We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Project Manager to lead the UGVCL AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) Project. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale utility or smart metering projects, excellent stakeholder coordination skills, and strong project governance capabilities. This role demands end-to-end responsibility for planning, execution, and delivery of the AMI project within the defined scope, timeline, and budget.
Key Responsibilities :
- Take complete ownership of the UGVCL AMI project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Serve as the key point of contact for UGVCL, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams; ensure regular reporting and communication with all stakeholders.
- Define project scope, milestones, resource plans, risk mitigation strategies, and success metrics in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Manage cross-functional project teams including engineering, implementation, QA, and support teams.
- Liaise with OEMs, implementation partners, and system integrators to ensure timely delivery and integration of metering hardware and software.
- Ensure that all project activities comply with UGVCLs regulatory and technical standards; maintain proper documentation and audit trails.
- Oversee testing, deployment, and performance monitoring of AMI components (smart meters, communication infrastructure, MDMS, HES).
- Identify project risks and roadblocks early; implement corrective actions as needed to ensure project delivery.
- Provide regular project updates, dashboards, and reports to senior management and clients.
Required Qualifications & Skills :
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field. MBA or PMP certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience, preferably in utility, power distribution, or smart metering domains.
- Hands-on experience with AMI systems, smart meters, Head-End Systems (HES), and Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS) is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile/Waterfall/Hybrid).
- Proficient in using project management tools such as MS Project, JIRA, or Primavera.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and team leadership skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Willingness to travel to UGVCL locations for on-site project oversight, if needed.
Preferred Skills :
- Prior experience working with UGVCL or other DISCOMs in India.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and R-APDRP / IPDS / smart grid initiatives.
- Familiarity with IoT, RF Mesh / PLC communication, and cybersecurity practices related to AMI deployments.
