Job Summary :


System Architect - TVM and AG in Transportation Domain


We are seeking a System Architect with deep expertise in hardware system design and integration for Automatic Gates (AG) and Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) as part of Automated Fare Collection Systems (AFCS) deployed in railway networks.


The ideal candidate will lead the end-to-end hardware architecture, integration, and interface design of AG and TVM systems, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and interoperability standards. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of fare media technologies, peripheral hardware integration, and railway fare validation mechanisms, with strong coordination across internal subsystems and external stakeholder interfaces.


Key Responsibilities :


Hardware System Architecture & Design :


- Define and own the complete hardware architecture for AG and TVM, based on system-level design inputs.

- Lead the design and specification of internal and external hardware interfaces, communication protocols, and physical data units (PDUs).

- Ensure hardware-level integration of key components such as NFC readers, EMV terminals, RS485/CAN Bus peripherals, sensors, flap-door actuators, and coin/bill handling units.

- Translate customer and system requirements into a cohesive and reliable hardware architecture, with considerations for passenger interaction, maintainability, and diagnostics.

- Ensure electromechanical compatibility and standards compliance across all hardware subsystems.

Hardware & Interface Integration :


- Design and oversee the integration of AG/TVM hardware interfaces with :

  • AFC Back-End System
  • AFC Station Server
  • Other Front-End Devices (excluding AG/TVM)
  • EMV Payment Application for TVM
- External Stakeholder Systems:
  • EMV Payment Gateway (for AG validation)
  • Central Clearing House
  • QR Code Payment Gateway
- Define and validate connectivity and interoperability across device interfaces using industry-standard protocols and custom integrations as required.


Technical Skillset :


- Platforms : Embedded Linux, RTOS (e.g., VxWorks, QNX, FreeRTOS)


- Interfaces : RS232, RS485, CAN Bus, I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet

- Protocols : TCP/IP, Serial, HTTP(S), Secure APIs, ISO 14443, ISO 7816, EMVCo

- Design Tools : UML, SysML, Architecture modeling tools


- Testing Tools : Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, test automation frameworks

- Standards : EMV, ISO 14443/18092, PCI DSS, RAMS, EN50126/50128 (preferred)

Note : Client is based in Japan, so resource should be is open and flexible to travel to Japan if required. All travel expenses will be covered by the client.
