Description :
We are building a communication platform that handles millions of concurrent connections and delivers messages in milliseconds. As a System & Network Infrastructure Engineer, you wont just be managing cloud resources; youll be optimizing the fundamental protocols that keep our massively scalable messaging running. You will work on global traffic routing, kernel-level network tuning, and high-performance socket management.
What You'll Do :
- Scale the Network : Architect and maintain a global network to ensure high availability and sub-millisecond latency for real-time messaging.
- Protocol Optimization : Ensure maximum network throughput by optimizing every packetfrom TCP window scaling to TLS handshake efficiency.
- OS & Kernel Tuning : Optimize file descriptors, memory allocation, and the Linux networking stack to ensure maximum performance on each messaging server.
- Infrastructure as Code : Automate the provisioning of global Points of Presence (PoPs) using Terraform and Ansible to maintain a "five nines" (99.999%) uptime.
- Traffic Engineering : Design and manage L4/L7 load balancing (NGINX, HAProxy) and implement routing strategies.
- Security & Privacy : Implement and audit cryptographic protocols and zero-trust networking to ensure user privacy remains uncompromised.
- Observability : Deploy deep-packet inspection tools and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, Wireshark, OpenTelemetry, Loki) to diagnose bottlenecks.
The Tech Stack :
- Networking : TCP/IP, UDP, DNS and Anycast routing.
- Infrastructure : GCP (VPC, Cloud Armor, GKE) or AWS equivalents.
- Containers : Docker and Kubernetes (Deep understanding of CNI and Service Mesh).
- Languages : Python, or Bash for high-performance networking tools and automation.
- Load Balancing : HAProxy, NGINX, and Cloud Load Balancers.
- Observability : Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki
- CI/CD : GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, jenkins
- Queue : Kafka, Redis
- Infrastructure as code : Terraform
Who You Are :
- Networking Savvy : You have a solid grasp of the OSI model and understand how the internet actually worksfrom 3-way handshakes to BGP peering.
- Performance Obsessed : You hate bloat and latency; you constantly keep optimizing and simplifying even if not asked.
- Linux Expert : You are at home in a Linux-based environment and can debug a kernel panic or a network partition with ease.
- Curious & Scrappy : You have a history of breaking (and fixing) complex systems and likely have a home lab full of networking gear.
Bonus Points :
- Experience with WebSockets, MQTT, or GRPC protocols.
- Certs or deep experience in Advanced Cloud Networking (GCP/AWS).
- Contributions to open-source networking or infrastructure projects.
