Founding Full-Stack Engineer

StupidFish is a funding-backed, US-based early stage startup that is building the future of career exploration. Founded by leading voice in career advice Erin McGoff, and experienced CTO and two-time tech founder Michael Boddie.

The product is currently in beta testing with an early group of users, and is set for an explosive launch in early 2026 to a waitlist of over 5,000 eager users (and counting).

We are seeking a highly experienced full-stack developer to join our engineering team. As one of our first hires, you will be working directly with company leadership to quickly onboard, understand requirements, and architect solutions, and independently build them end-to-end, seamlessly integrating with the larger system. You should be a strong systems-level thinker, able to see the bigger picture and independently build solutions that are robust, scalable, and meet the companys long-term objectives.

You should be comfortable with your engineering skills as you will be expected to make decisions, build things, and solve problems independently. You should have experience independently building and validating production features and frameworks from end to end, with minimal direct oversight. You should be comfortable seamlessly integrating third-party systems, consulting external documentation and interfacing with external teams as needed, without internal guidance.

This is a full-time, long-term position. As an early hire, successful candidates that demonstrate strong software engineering ability and high level problem solving will have opportunities to advance quickly into technical leadership as the company scales.

Stack :

- Backend : Python (FastAPI)

Requirements :

- STRONG Python competence, with industry experience.

- Minimum 5 years software engineering industry experience.

- Proficiency with AI / agentic tools and workflows for software development.

- Web development / cloud experience, and understanding of APIs.

- Skilled in writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.

- English fluency.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience building AI or LLM powered applications, tools, or features.

- ReactJS competence.
