Role Summary :
The Senior Lead Business Analyst is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the successful replacement of a complex legacy system with a modern, scalable solution. This role requires deep analytical expertise, strong stakeholder management skills, and hands-on experience delivering enterprise-scale digital transformations. The ideal candidate ensures business continuity by preserving critical functionality while identifying opportunities to optimize and modernize business processes.
This individual will act as the primary bridge between business stakeholders, product leadership, and engineering teams, ensuring that business intent is accurately translated into high-quality technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead end-to-end requirements discovery initiatives through structured workshops, interviews, and process walkthroughs with Product Owners, SMEs, Operations, Compliance, and Technology teams.
- Capture and document functional, non-functional, regulatory, and operational requirements with a strong focus on scalability, security, performance, and usability.
- Challenge assumptions and uncover implicit requirements, edge cases, and dependencies that could impact delivery or adoption.
- Drive alignment on business objectives, success metrics, and scope boundaries early in the project lifecycle.
- Conduct a comprehensive legacy system decomposition, documenting workflows, data models, integrations, rules engines, and exception handling.
- Perform detailed gap analysis to ensure feature parity or approved enhancements in the new solution.
- Identify redundant, outdated, or inefficient processes and propose optimized, future-state alternatives.
- Ensure business-critical functionality is not lost during system decommissioning.
- Own and manage the Jira backlog, translating strategic business goals into well-defined Epics, Features, and User Stories.
- Write high-quality user stories with clear Acceptance Criteria, Definition of Ready (DoR), and Definition of Done (DoD).
- Partner closely with Engineering and QA to clarify requirements, refine stories, and support sprint planning and backlog grooming.
- Continuously prioritize and re-prioritize work based on business value, dependencies, and delivery risks.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, product leadership, engineering teams, and external vendors.
- Facilitate discussions to manage scope, expectations, trade-offs, and change requests.
- Present clear and concise progress updates, risks, and mitigation plans to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships and influence decision-making across cross-functional teams.
- Document as-is and to-be processes using BPMN or equivalent standards.
- Assess business impact of system and process changes, including operational readiness and training needs.
- Support organizational change by ensuring stakeholders understand new workflows, system capabilities, and benefits.
- Contribute to the development of user guides, training materials, and operational documentation.
- Define and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategies, scenarios, and test cases.
- Coordinate UAT execution with business users, ensuring issues are tracked, prioritized, and resolved.
- Validate that delivered solutions meet documented requirements and align with business intent.
- Support go-live readiness, defect triage, and post-implementation reviews.
Core Competencies :
- Expert-level knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
- Proven experience delivering complex initiatives across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Strong understanding of product-driven development and value-based prioritization.
- Advanced expertise in producing BRDs, FRDs, PRDs, User Stories, Use Cases, Process Flows, and Data Models.
- Proficient in BPMN, UML, and other visual modeling techniques.
- Ability to tailor documentation depth based on audience and project needs.
Tools & Technologies (Preferred) :
- Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or equivalent ALM tools
- Process modeling tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, Draw.io)
- SQL or data analysis tools for data validation and insights (nice to have)
- Experience working with APIs, integrations, and cloud-based platforms is a plus
