Storage & Backup Engineer - NetApp/CommVault

Job Description :

Key Responsibilities :

Storage Provisioning & Configuration :

- Manage thin/thick provisioning, zoning, and masking (SAN)

- Set up and manage file systems (NFS, SMB, iSCSI)

- Perform RAID and storage controller configuration

- Initial setup and firmware/OS upgrades for storage arrays (NetApp, Pure Storage, Dell EMC, etc.)

Performance Management & Monitoring :

- Analyze performance bottlenecks and perform tuning

- Set up storage health alerts and monitor thresholds

- Conduct capacity forecasting and reporting

Backup, Recovery & Data Protection :

- Configure local and remote replication

- Conduct restore testing and verification

Data Migration & Integrity :

- Perform LUN and volume migrations with minimal downtime

- Conduct data validation and integrity checks

Storage Security :

- Manage encryption (data at rest and in transit)

- Ensure secure multi-tenancy and compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, etc.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery :

- Plan and test DR strategies

- Work with clustered storage systems and geo-redundancy setups

Tiered & Archival Storage Management :

- Configure archiving and retrieval systems

- Integrate with object storage (S3, Azure Blob)

Virtualization & Cloud Storage Integration :

- Manage vSAN or HCI-based storage

- Provision and manage cloud storage (AWS EBS, Azure Disks)

Troubleshooting & Incident Management :

- Handle storage connectivity issues (SAN/NAS)

- Analyze logs and provide escalation support as required

Requirements :

- Strong understanding of SAN/NAS protocols, RAID configurations, and zoning/masking

- Hands-on experience with backup and replication technologies

- Familiarity with compliance and security best practices in data storage

- Solid understanding of cloud and virtualization platforms

- Excellent troubleshooting and incident resolution skills

- Strong communication and documentation abilities

Education & Certification :

- Certifications such as NetApp Certified, EMC Proven Professional, or similar are a plus
