Role Overview :

We are hiring a Storage and Backup Administrator with over 7 years of experience to design, implement, and maintain robust backup and storage infrastructures. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with backup tools like Cohesity, Avamar, Commvault, and possess strong technical knowledge of storage systems (SAN/NAS), cloud storage, and virtualization technologies. This is a critical role supporting enterprise data protection, disaster recovery, and storage optimization initiatives across on-premises and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, deploy, and manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions using tools such as Cohesity, Avamar, and Commvault.

- Administer and monitor storage systems including SAN, NAS, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage).

- Set up and maintain monitoring and alerting mechanisms using tools like AppDynamics and Splunk to ensure optimal storage and backup performance.

- Perform regular backups, restorations, and conduct disaster recovery tests to validate business continuity plans.

- Monitor backup job status, address failures, and optimize backup schedules and storage usage.

- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to align storage and backup solutions with organizational standards and compliance requirements.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to backup failures, storage capacity, latency, or performance degradation.

- Participate in capacity planning, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning of backup and storage systems.

- Document operational procedures, system configurations, and recovery plans.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 7+ years of hands-on experience in backup and storage administration in medium to large enterprise environments.

- In-depth experience with backup tools : Cohesity, Avamar, Commvault.

- Strong knowledge of storage technologies including NetApp, HPE, Qumulo, etc.

- Proficient in virtualization platforms : VMware, Hyper-V.

- Experience with cloud storage platforms like AWS S3 and Azure Blob.

- Good knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash for automation and monitoring.

- Solid understanding of data protection, retention policies, and disaster recovery practices.

- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Certifications in Cohesity or related storage/backup platforms.

- Familiarity with ITIL processes, incident/change management, and data governance standards.

- Experience with automating storage and backup operations.
