We are seeking a skilled SSH Engineer to support and maintain enterprise-grade SSH key discovery and management tooling. This role involves ensuring smooth operation, reporting, issue resolution, and coordination with vendors. You will work as part of a small engineering team led by the SSH Lead Engineer to evaluate feature requests, support automation efforts, and strengthen SSH security across the environment.
Experience Required :
- 4 - 6 years of experience in Unix/Linux administration, SSH key management, automation, and security tooling.
- Experience working in large, complex IT environments (financial domain preferred but not mandatory).
Key Responsibilities :
- Support the maintenance, reporting, and health monitoring of SSH discovery tools.
- Ensure that the SSH discovery tooling functions as expected and proactively address operational issues.
- Work closely with the vendor to log, track, and resolve product-related defects or enhancement requests.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to build automated tools and scripts to improve key discovery, rotation, and lifecycle management.
- Support infrastructure upgrades, tool enhancements, and feature implementations.
- Contribute to software release and deployment processes using GitHub, Jenkins, and similar tools.
- Assist with Service Management activities including incident resolution, RFC submissions, ticket handling, and documentation updates.
- Ensure alignment with internal security standards and industry best practices.
Required Skills & Competencies :
- Strong understanding of Unix/Linux systems, user access setup, SSH configurations, and Bash scripting.
- In-depth knowledge of SSH keys, configurations, key algorithms, and SSH certificates.
- Hands-on experience in automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, Splunk, Postman.
- Experience working with SQL databases, particularly Microsoft SQL for reporting and analysis.
- Familiarity with Identity & Access Management concepts including RBAC, Privileged Access Management (PAM), and key lifecycle processes.
- Understanding of IT infrastructure technologies such as VMware, Windows/Linux servers, databases, firewalls, and network fundamentals.
- Experience with Service Management tools like ServiceNow, and workflows such as incidents, RFCs, and changes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, especially under pressure.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a structured team environment.
- Strong communication and documentation abilities.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a drive to optimize processes and tooling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Advanced Excel.
- Experience working in large enterprises, preferably in the financial sector.
- Knowledge of Venafi Trust Protection Platform (TPP), specifically for SSH key discovery and management.
- Exposure to enterprise SSH key governance frameworks and best practices.
