Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Lead Backend Engineer / Technical Lead with 10-15 years of experience to drive backend architecture, system design, and technical delivery. The role is suited for a hands-on technical leader who can make architectural decisions while continuing to contribute to design and development.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, and modern software engineering practices, along with the ability to guide engineering teams through complex technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and evolve scalable, resilient, and maintainable backend systems for enterprise applications.

- Define service boundaries, data ownership, communication patterns, and integration strategies.

- Design solutions using appropriate architectural patterns, including:

1. Microservices

2. Modular monoliths

3. Event-driven architectures

4. Layered architectures

5. Hexagonal / Clean Architecture

- Make architecture and technology decisions by evaluating trade-offs across performance, scalability, cost, reliability, and complexity.

- Define and maintain backend architecture standards, design principles, coding standards, and best practices.

- Design and develop high-performance RESTful APIs and backend services.

- Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and proof-of-concept initiatives.

- Drive modernization and decomposition of legacy applications where required.

- Design distributed systems with appropriate approaches to caching, messaging, asynchronous processing, fault tolerance, and service resiliency.

- Design data models and database solutions based on application requirements and scalability needs.

- Ensure appropriate implementation of security, authentication, authorization, logging, monitoring, and observability.

- Review code and provide technical guidance to senior and mid-level engineers.

- Mentor engineers and help teams adopt sound engineering and architectural practices.

- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, DevOps, QA, Security, and Architecture teams to deliver complex technical solutions.

- Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root-cause analysis and long-term remediation.

- Contribute to technical roadmaps and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to the backend ecosystem.

Required Skills & Experience:

- 10-15 years of experience in backend software development, with significant experience in technical leadership or architecture.

- Strong hands-on programming experience in at least one backend language such as Java, Python, Go, C#, or Node.js.

- Extensive experience designing microservices and distributed systems.

- Strong understanding of REST APIs, API design, service communication, and integration patterns.

- Strong knowledge of event-driven architecture and messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent.

- Strong database expertise across relational and/or NoSQL databases, including data modeling and performance optimization.

- Experience with Redis or other caching technologies is preferred.

- Strong understanding of distributed-system concepts including scalability, availability, fault tolerance, consistency, concurrency, and resiliency.

- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes or equivalent containerization technologies.

- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform - AWS, Azure, or GCP.

- Understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, infrastructure automation, and observability practices.

- Strong knowledge of design patterns, SOLID principles, clean code, and software engineering best practices.

- Experience with automated unit, integration, and API testing.

- Strong technical communication and stakeholder-management skills.

- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence technical decisions across teams.
