Description :

Customer Architecture & Advisory :

- Act as a trusted advisor for enterprise customers migrating SQL Server workloads to Linux

- Lead technical discussions with customer architects, DBAs, infrastructure, and application teams

- Translate business and technical requirements into migration architecture and execution guidance

- Provide design validation, best practices, and risk mitigation strategies

- SQL on Linux Migration Architecture

Lead end to-end SQL Server on Linux migration engagements, including :

- Discovery and workload assessment

- Migration strategy selection (rehost, replatform, modernize)

- Architecture design and readiness validation

Define migration approaches for :

- SQL Server on Windows SQL Server on Linux

- On prem Cloud / Hybrid Linux environments

- Design migration waves, cutover plans, rollback strategies, and success criteria

- SQL Server on Linux Technical Expertise

Design and implementation :

- SQL Server installation and configuration on Linux

- Backup, restore, and maintenance plans on Linux

- Performance tuning and query optimization

Architect High Availability & Disaster Recovery solutions :

- Always On Availability Groups on Linux

- Backup-based and geo-redundant DR strategies

Security architecture :

- Authentication and authorization models

- Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)

- Certificate management and encryption at rest/in transit

- Linux Platform & Infrastructure Advisory

- Strong understanding of Linux platforms (RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE)

Guide customers on :

- OS sizing, storage, and I/O architecture for SQL workloads

- Filesystem selection and tuning

- OS level security, patching, and hardening

- Support troubleshooting across SQL Server + Linux OS layers

- Linux Platform & OS Architecture

- Strong Linux administration experience (RHEL

OS and infrastructure readiness assessments for SQL workloads :

- CPU, memory, storage, I/O sizing

- NUMA and filesystem selection (XFS / EXT4)

Proficiency with :

- System, cron, Linux networking

- Bash scripting and automation

Linux security and compliance :

- SE Linux, firewall

- OS hardening and patching strategies

- Cloud & Hybrid Enablement

- Architect SQL on Linux solutions in Azure and hybrid environments

Advise customers on :

- SQL on Linux running on Azure Virtual Machines

- Hybrid scenarios using Azure Arc

Partner with cloud teams to ensure :

- Cost optimization and performance efficiency

- Identify opportunities for modernization and expansion aligned to customer goals

- Automation, DevOps & Modern Practices

Automate deployment and migration workflows using :

- Bash / PowerShell

Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep - preferred) :

- CI/CD integration for database deployments

- Exposure to containerized SQL workloads (Docker on Linux)

- Monitoring and observability integration post-migration

Certifications & Background (Preferred) :

- Microsoft SQL Server / Azure certifications

- Linux administration certifications (RHCSA/RHCE preferred)

- Prior experience as Database Architect, Cloud Architect, or Migration Lead
