SQL Developer - Data Analytics

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and views to support business logic and data transformation requirements.

- Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and execution plan analysis.

- Develop, schedule, and automate batch jobs and shell scripts in Unix/Linux environments for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).

- Integrate SQL components with application systems through APIs, middleware, or scripts.

- Collaborate with application developers to design efficient database structures and troubleshoot issues.

- Perform data validation, quality checks, and reconciliation between systems.

- Support database migrations, upgrades, and backups while maintaining high data integrity

and availability.

- Analyze and troubleshoot production issues in real-time, ensuring minimal downtime.

- Develop Unix shell scripts to automate operational tasks, manage file transfers, and process

scheduling.

- Work closely with infrastructure and DevOps teams to support deployment and monitoring

activities.

- Document all database processes, scripts, and change logs to ensure compliance and

maintainability.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- 4 - 8 years of experience as a SQL Developer, with solid understanding of relational databases.

- Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL).

- Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting (bash/ksh).

- Experience in ETL development and automation using SQL scripts and Unix tools (cron, awk,

sed, grep).

- Proficiency in query optimization, indexing, and database performance tuning.

- Familiarity with data modeling concepts, normalization, and relational design.

- Experience handling large-scale datasets and ensuring data integrity across systems.

- Working knowledge of version control tools (Git, SVN) and job scheduling tools (Autosys,

Control-M, or Cron).

- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in both SQL and Unix environments.

Preferred Skills :

- Exposure to Python or Perl scripting for advanced automation and data handling.

- Experience with cloud-based databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Snowflake, or Google BigQuery).

- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau).

- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for SQL deployments.

- Understanding of database security, user access control, and audit compliance.

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
