Role : Solution Architect

Roles and Responsibilities :

- Define system architecture for major builds and significant architectural changes. Create architecture diagrams, data models, integration boundaries, extension points, and scalability approaches.

- Define and document Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) covering performance, scalability, reliability, availability, security, usability, maintainability, and supportability.

- Work closely with Solution Engineers and Product Managers during the architecture and design phase.

- Present and explain architectural decisions to technical stakeholders.

Technical & Code Review :

- Review and approve high-risk technical changes and pull requests. Review authentication, authorization, session management, data models, migrations, sensitive-data handling, integrations, infrastructure, CI/CD, cryptography, and major framework/dependency upgrades.

- Review design plans before implementation of high-risk changes.

- Review performance and load-testing approaches and results.

- Review security findings and ensure appropriate remediation.

- Conduct periodic codebase and architecture health reviews.

Security & Reliability :

- Define the scope of security and penetration testing activities.

- Oversee vulnerability remediation in collaboration with engineering teams. Ensure security best practices are incorporated into architecture and implementation.

- Provide architectural guidance during critical incidents and architecture-level issues.

Technical Leadership & Knowledge Transfer :

- Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to engineering teams.

- Conduct regular handover and knowledge-transfer reviews.

- Identify and address key-person dependencies and architectural risks. Evaluate emerging AI/engineering tools and technologies relevant to software development.

- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering frameworks and architecture practices.

Requirements :

- Strong experience as a Solution Architect, Software Architect, Technical Architect, or Engineer of Record.

- Proven experience designing and building production-grade platforms, not only conducting architecture reviews.

- Strong hands-on software engineering background.

- Experience with the technology stack relevant to the project. Strong understanding of system design, distributed systems, scalability, APIs, integrations, databases, cloud/infrastructure, and security.

- Experience defining and working with Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs). Strong experience with architecture documentation, technical design, and code reviews.

- Experience handling high-risk technical changes and production systems.

- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Experience :

- Experience working in LMIC (Low- and Middle-Income Country) environments. Experience with health-tech, donor-funded health programmes, or similar large-scale social-impact technology projects.

- Experience working with low-connectivity or resource-constrained environments. Experience with security, vulnerability management, penetration testing, and secure software architecture.

- Experience providing technical leadership across distributed or cross-functional teams.
