About the Role :
We are looking for a Senior Staff Frontend Engineer to provide technical leadership at a platform and org-wide level for our Marketplace experience.
This role goes beyond owning a single teams frontend you will shape frontend architecture, standards, and long-term technical direction for Marketplace initiatives that support internal SKUs today and third-party integrations in the future.
This is a hands-on, high-impact IC role with broad influence.
Youll work across Marketplace, Platform, Backend, Product, and Design teams to ensure we build scalable, high-performance, and reliable user experiences that support business growth and long-term extensibility.
What Youll Do :
- Own and evolve the frontend architecture for the Marketplace platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
- Lead complex frontend initiatives that span multiple teams and services (catalog, checkout, integrations, admin tooling).
- Define and drive frontend engineering standards across Marketplace (architecture patterns, performance, accessibility, testing).
- Partner closely with Backend and Platform teams on API design, contracts, and system boundaries.
- Act as a technical advisor to Product and Design, helping shape solutions early and balancing user experience with engineering trade-offs.
- Mentor and guide Staff and Senior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical mentorship.
- Identify systemic frontend bottlenecks and proactively drive improvements that increase team velocity and platform reliability.
- Represent frontend concerns in cross-org technical discussions and influence decisions beyond Marketplace.
What Were Looking For :
- 10+ years of professional frontend engineering experience in product-focused environments.
- Deep expertise in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and frontend frameworks such as React (or equivalent).
- Proven experience owning large-scale frontend architectures across multiple teams or domains.
- Strong background in building shared component libraries, design systems, or platform-level frontend tooling.
- Hands-on experience with frontend performance optimization (e.g., Web Vitals, bundle optimization, rendering strategies).
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction without direct authority.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and setting direction where none exists.
Nice to Have :
- Experience with marketplace, e-commerce, or transactional platforms.
- Exposure to microfrontend architectures and frontend platformization.
- Familiarity with cloud-native backends and distributed systems.
- Experience working in observability, DevOps, or platform engineering ecosystems.
- Prior experience acting as a cross-team technical leader at scale.
