Backend Engineer (SDE 3) Payments Platform

Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer (SDE 3) to build and scale high-performance payment infrastructure. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex backend challenges, designing distributed systems, and taking end-to-end ownership of mission-critical services. You will develop highly scalable, low-latency backend systems, optimize performance and infrastructure efficiency, and contribute to building reliable, secure, and resilient payment platforms that operate at scale.

Key Responsibilities :

Backend Development :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for high-throughput, low-latency payment systems.

- Build secure, reliable, and fault-tolerant microservices using modern backend technologies.

- Develop APIs and distributed services capable of handling large-scale transaction workloads.

System Design & Ownership:

- Take complete ownership of backend services from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.

- Design scalable system architectures that prioritize performance, resilience, and operational efficiency.

- Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system reliability.

Performance & Scalability:

- Optimize backend services for throughput, latency, and infrastructure cost.

- Improve database performance, caching strategies, and distributed system efficiency.

- Identify bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions for growing workloads.

Infrastructure & Observability:

- Strengthen system observability through monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting.

- Build highly available and resilient services using cloud-native infrastructure.

- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to improve deployment automation and operational excellence.

Engineering Excellence:

- Follow engineering best practices including code reviews, automated testing, documentation, and CI/CD.

- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.

- Contribute to architecture discussions and mentor junior engineers when needed.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

- Partner with Product, Frontend, Infrastructure, and Platform Engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

- Participate in design reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions.

- Drive continuous improvements in engineering processes and system reliability.

Required Qualifications:

- Strong hands-on experience in Golang backend development.

- Solid understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and system design.

- Experience designing and building scalable backend services and microservices.

- Strong expertise with PostgreSQL and relational database design.

- Experience working with caching technologies such as Redis.

- Familiarity with messaging systems including RabbitMQ and Amazon SQS.

- Experience deploying and operating applications on AWS.

- Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ClickHouse.

- Experience with containerization, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code using Docker, Terraform, and GitLab CI/CD.

- Strong ownership mindset with experience delivering features from concept to production.

- Passion for writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
