Role Overview:

We are looking for a hands-on Java Backend Engineer with strong product thinking and experience building scalable systems. Candidates who have worked in fast-growing startups and contributed to scaling technology platforms are preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and develop scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

- Build and operate distributed systems in production, ensuring performance and reliability.

- Own system design, technical decisions, code quality and production issue resolution.

- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to build solutions aligned with business needs.

- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architecture discussions and code reviews.

Requirements:

- 5 - 7 years of software development experience with strong hands-on Java expertise.

- 4+ years of experience building and operating distributed systems in production.

- Strong understanding of microservices, API design, system architecture and performance optimisation.

- Experience troubleshooting production issues and building reliable, scalable applications.

- Strong problem-solving skills, product mindset and end-to-end ownership.

- Experience in a startup that has scaled rapidly is preferred.

- Fintech or BFSI experience is an added advantage.
