Job Description

Role Overview :

This role focuses on migrating large hardware-verification frameworks between proprietary internal build systems. The migration process is AI-accelerated, requiring candidates to use coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex to facilitate translation, perform testing and debugging, and create Jenkins regressions. While AI tools will assist, engineering judgment is essential for the final stretch of the migration. The contractor will own migrations end-to-end and is expected to codify learnings into reusable playbooks for the company.

Required Technical Skills :

- Strong Python skills for reading and patching framework code, writing generators and post-processing scripts, and transforming structured data

- Proficiency in a dynamic scripting language (e.g., Ruby, Perl) to interpret legacy build system DSLs, evaluate conditional logic, and translate intent

- Solid understanding of build systems and dependency graphs, including make-style tools, DAG-based builds, content/timestamp caching, and debugging dependency cycles

- Experience with templating and structured configuration (e.g., Jinja2, YAML, JSON) where schema correctness is crucial

- Familiarity with Linux, shell scripting, version control (Git/Perforce), and batch schedulers for large builds

- Practical experience with AI coding agents, including scoping tasks, providing context, and critically verifying generated output

- Comfort with log-driven debugging, isolating root causes among numerous warnings in build logs

Nice to Have :

- Exposure to hardware design/verification flows (RTL, register generation, IP packaging, simulation build, Verilog/SystemVerilog)

- Experience packaging or patching third-party frameworks (virtual environments, dependency managers, module systems)

- Background in EDA tooling or the semiconductor industry

Soft Skills :

- Skeptical, evidence-driven mindset, treating both AI output and prior assumptions as hypotheses to be verified

- Methodical and incremental approach to migration and validation, avoiding big-bang changes

- Persistence and comfort with ambiguity, maintaining a systematic approach through multiple iterations

- Clear written communication, documenting root causes and fixes for knowledge sharing

- Self-directed, able to own migration projects and escalate architectural blockers when necessary

Note :

Shift Preferred 2-10pm local time to allow better coordination with Austin

Primary Skills :

- AI orchestration (proven ability to do development work with LLMs)

- Object oriented programming skills (OOP)

- Excellent software debug skills (can debug independently without active oversight)
