Role: Lead Mainframe Developer

The selected candidate will be involved in the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support. You will work closely with Product Owners, QA teams, and fellow developers to deliver reliable and scalable mainframe solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

Software Development & Delivery :

- Design, develop, test, and support applications using mainframe technologies.

- Write, maintain, and optimize programs using COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL, DB2, and SQL.

- Support the full software lifecycle from requirements analysis through development, testing, and production support.

- Deliver assigned tasks independently while adhering to project timelines and quality standards.

Requirements Analysis & Collaboration :

- Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, QA, and Development teams to understand business requirements.

- Assist in defining testable scenarios based on requirements and acceptance criteria.

- Participate in design discussions and contribute to technical solutioning.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth technical delivery.

Process & Quality :

- Design and implement standardized development methods, processes, and system improvements.

- Follow established coding standards, documentation practices, and quality guidelines.

- Identify potential risks, issues, and dependencies and proactively communicate them to stakeholders.

- Support defect resolution, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Day-to-Day Operations :

- Handle daily information management and development tasks with minimal supervision.

- Demonstrate forward planning and anticipate technical needs or potential issues.

- Participate in daily stand-up meetings, providing updates on assigned tasks, backlog progress, and

technical challenges.

- Support ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and production issues as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Technical Skills :

- Strong hands-on experience with Mainframe technologies including:

i. COBOL

ii. CICS

iii. VSAM

iv. JCL

v. DB2

vi. SQL

- Experience working in enterprise-scale mainframe application environments.

- Familiarity with testing, debugging, and performance tuning of mainframe applications.

Soft Skills :

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment.

- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project needs.

Education :

- High School diploma or equivalent Required.

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field Preferred.
