About the Role :
We are looking for a highly experienced IT Project Manager (ITPM) to lead and support critical initiatives in the UPI Payments domain for HSBC. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in managing end-to-end IT projects, coordinating with multiple vendors, and driving deliverables within strict timelines. This role requires strong communication skills, hands-on project execution experience, and the ability to navigate complex environments involving mobile applications, APIs, and regulatory requirements.
The IT Project Manager will be responsible for working closely with UPI payment vendors, business stakeholders, development teams, UAT teams, and cross-functional groups, ensuring seamless execution of all project activities.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Project Management & Execution :
- Manage and deliver multiple UPI Paymentsrelated projects end-to-end, ensuring timely execution of project deliverables.
- Coordinate with UPI Payments vendors, internal development teams, QA/UAT teams, and business stakeholders.
- Drive project timelines, sprint plans, and deliverable checklists.
- Ensure strict adherence to SDLC processes, documentation standards, and HSBC internal guidelines.
- Organize and run daily status calls, project review meetings, whiteboard sessions, and weekly governance reviews.
2. Cross-Functional Coordination :
- Act as a central point of contact between business, technology, and vendor teams.
- Facilitate smooth communication, clarify requirements, and resolve blockers on time.
- Ensure alignment between technical teams and business stakeholders for project objectives, scope, and timelines.
3. Technical Understanding :
- Possess strong understanding of mobile app functionality, architecture, and API integrations related to UPI.
- Analyze API requests/responses, understand UPI payment flows, and assist teams with troubleshooting and clarifications.
- Stay updated with evolving digital payment trends, NPCI guidelines, and UPI ecosystem changes.
4. Reporting, Tracking & Documentation :
- Maintain daily status trackers, RAID logs (Risks, Actions, Issues, Dependencies), and project dashboards.
- Track weekly progress, identify delays, escalate concerns, and ensure proactive follow-ups.
- Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Publish all project artifacts and documentation on SharePoint within defined timelines.
5. Vendor & Stakeholder Management :
- Build and maintain professional relationships with UPI vendors, solution providers, and internal teams.
- Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, business leaders, and regulatory bodies when required.
- Draft professional emails, status updates, and escalations addressing app owners, business leads, and regulatory authorities.
6. Compliance, Audit & Risk Management :
- Support internal and external audit activities with required documentation and clarifications.
- Ensure all projects comply with security, governance, and regulatory standards.
- Apply strong risk management practices to foresee potential issues and mitigate them proactively.
7. Delivery Support :
- Coordinate weekend releases, deployments, and production movement activities.
- Gather and analyze data related to enhancements, releases, developer checkpoints, and UAT sign-offs.
- Assist in issue resolution during critical deployment windows and ensure smooth deployment cycles.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
Technical & Functional Skills :
- 1012 years of IT Project Management experience in BFSI, payments, or fintech domain.
- Mandatory experience in UPI / Payments domain.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and IT governance processes.
- Experience managing projects involving mobile applications and API integrations.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools : Excel (advanced), PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and project tracking tools (Jira/Confluence preferred).
Communication & Soft Skills :
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), capable of interacting with senior leaders.
- Strong stakeholder and vendor management capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive attitude with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- High level of ownership and accountability toward deliverables.
