Softobiz - SQL Database Administrator - Azure

Job Title : SQL Database Administrator.

Job Location : Hyderabad.

Experience : 5 + years.

Skills Required :

- Microsoft Windows Server & SQL Server (On-premises).

- Azure SQL and related Azure data-services (Cloud).

- Familiar with Azure cloud data services and related infrastructure (desirable).

- Good knowledge of database design, implementation, transaction processing, referential integrity, performance tuning and monitoring with an emphasis in MS SQL/Azure SQL.

- Experience or relevant functional knowledge in data modelling, relational database design, and ability to create and implement physical databases from logical data model.

- Experience with or formal training in developing and managing high availability solutions : replication, clustering, mirroring, log shipping.

- Hands-on knowledge of database backup and recovery methods and tools for on-premises and cloud-based SQL databases.

- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to translate information and develop insights.

- Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving various performance issues and tuning (highly preferable).

- Familiar with DevOps & Database automation tooling.

- Experience with or a solid understanding of database migration activities at a server, cluster or database layer.

- Data warehouse maintenance and tuning experience.

- Strong understanding and appreciation of Change Management policies and procedures.

Experience :

- Minimum 5 years experience in database administration with proven expertise in both on-premises and Azure SQL environments.

- Production(40%) vs Development experience(60%).

- On-Premises(30%) vs Azure SQL experience(70%).

Strong SQL development skills, including :

- Database & query optimisation.

- Writing and tuning complex stored procedures.

- Performance tuning for large-scale databases.

- Experience managing and supporting database operations and the full database SDLC.

- Solid background in enterprise-class database architecture and support.

- Proven track record working in an Agile environment with a structured approach.

- Strong communication skills able to guide stakeholders from what do you want to what do you need.

- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and processes.

- Familiarity with Azure infrastructure (ideal).

- Basic Data Engineering knowledge/exposure (ideal).

- Exposure to DevOps and SecOps practices (optional).

- Experience mentoring technical resources in database disciplines.

- Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.

- Azure SQL and/or MS SQL certification (desirable).
