About the Role :
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in developing and maintaining complex shell scripts within HP-UX, Linux, and other Unix environments.
This role will involve working on critical systems, requiring a deep understanding of shell scripting best practices, performance optimization, and debugging techniques.
You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying shell scripts to automate tasks, manage system configurations, and support our infrastructure.
Responsibilities :
- Work closely with other teams to understand requirements and translate them into efficient and robust shell scripts.
- Optimize existing scripts for performance and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and debug shell scripts to identify and resolve issues.
- Implement best practices for shell scripting, including code modularity, error handling, and security.
- Create and maintain documentation for developed scripts.
- Collaborate with the team to improve development processes and standards.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Work in HP-UX, Linux, and other Unix environments.
- Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in shell scripting and Unix system administration.
Required Skills and Experience :
- Extensive experience working in HP-UX, Linux, and other Unix environments.
- Strong understanding of Unix/Linux operating system concepts and commands.
- Proficiency in shell scripting constructs, including control flow, loops, functions, and regular expressions.
- Experience with debugging and troubleshooting shell scripts.
- Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for shell scripts.
- Ability to write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g, Git).
- Experience with other scripting languages (e.g, Python, Perl) is a plus.
- Familiarity with system administration tasks and tools.
- Knowledge of database systems (e.g, Oracle, MySQL).
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g, AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
