Senior Staff Software Engineer - DevOps

About the Role :

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Staff Software Engineer to enhance developer experience (DevEx), engineering productivity, and technical workflows across multiple globally distributed teams. This role focuses on real production code, deep technical audits, and building practical improvements that help engineers ship faster and more safely.

This is not a management or dashboard/reporting role it's a highly technical IC role.

Role & Responsibilities :

- Conduct hands-on technical audits across multiple products and codebases

- Analyze architecture, code quality, testing strategy, and CI/CD pipelines

- Identify productivity bottlenecks and engineer practical solutions

- Improve local development environments and inner development loops

- Reduce build times, flaky tests, and deployment friction

- Enhance developer onboarding experience through tooling and workflows

- Build or refine internal developer tools, templates, scripts, and examples

- Optimize CI/CD pipelines, automation, and release workflows

- Collaborate closely with engineering teams through pairing and code reviews

- Provide technical leadership without people management responsibilities

- Support modernization of legacy systems

- Measure impact using metrics like cycle time, lead time, MTTR, and failure rates

- Work effectively with teams across multiple time zones

Mandatory Skills :

- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience

- Strong backend development skills (Java / .NET / Node.js / Python / Go)

- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Bitbucket Pipelines, Azure DevOps)

- Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)

- Docker, Kubernetes, Containers & Orchestration

- Experience improving developer productivity and DevEx at scale

- Deep experience working in production codebases

- Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, distributed systems

- Experience with testing automation and code quality tooling

- Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills
