Senior Staff Engineer - Java

About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced Software Developer who is currently hands-on in development and actively contributing to scalable, high-performance applications. The ideal candidate should have strong backend or UI expertise, solid API design experience, exposure to system design, and hands-on experience with scalable architectures including event-driven systems and databases.

Key Responsibilities :

Development & Contribution :

- Actively contribute as a hands-on developer in backend and/or frontend (UI) development.

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable services and user interfaces.

- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical decision-making.

- Collaborate with product, DevOps, QA, and cross-functional teams.

API Design & Implementation :

- Design and implement robust, secure, and scalable RESTful (or GraphQL) APIs.

- Follow API best practices including :

1. Proper HTTP method usage (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH)

2. Stateless design principles

3. Versioning strategies

4. Authentication & authorization (OAuth2, JWT, etc.)

5. Input validation & error handling standards

6. Idempotency and rate limiting

7. API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI)

- Ensure performance optimization and backward compatibility.

System Design & Architecture :

- Contribute to or lead system design discussions.

- Design scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.

- Work with microservices architecture and containerized environments.

- Implement caching strategies (Redis, CDN, etc.).

- Evaluate trade-offs between monolithic and microservices architectures.

Scaling & Performance Optimization :

- Identify and resolve bottlenecks in high-traffic applications.

- Implement horizontal and vertical scaling strategies.

- Optimize database queries and indexing strategies.

- Implement caching, load balancing, and asynchronous processing.

- Handle challenges like :

1. High concurrency

2. Distributed transactions

3. Data consistency

4. Latency reduction

Required Qualifications :

- 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.

- Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (Java).

- Experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue) is a plus.

- Solid understanding of distributed systems and system design principles.

- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
