Job Description :
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Staff / Staff Front-End Engineer to own the technical direction, architecture, and evolution of a common React-based UI platform used across multiple products and engineering teams.
The role will serve as the technical anchor for UI platform engineering, driving the creation of reusable UI capabilities, scalable component libraries, design-system standards, architectural patterns, and engineering guardrails.
The ideal candidate will combine deep React expertise with strong front-end architecture, design-system experience, platform thinking, and cross-team technical leadership. This person will influence engineering teams across the organisation, establish standards, improve developer experience, and ensure consistent, accessible, performant, and maintainable user experiences at scale.
Key Responsibilities :
Platform Ownership & Architecture :
- Define and own the architecture, technical roadmap, and long-term evolution of the common UI platform.
- Establish a scalable technical vision for shared front-end capabilities across multiple products.
- Design and evolve reusable React frameworks, component libraries, UI primitives, and design-system capabilities.
- Define modular and extensible front-end architecture that supports multiple products and development teams.
- Establish architectural patterns for component composition, state management, routing, data fetching, theming, and application integration.
- Define standards and reference architectures for modern React application development.
- Evaluate emerging front-end technologies and determine their suitability for enterprise adoption.
- Identify architectural gaps and introduce platform capabilities that reduce duplicated engineering effort.
Design Systems & Component Libraries :
- Build and maintain scalable design systems and reusable React component libraries.
- Establish common UI patterns, design tokens, typography, layouts, themes, forms, navigation, and interaction standards.
- Ensure components are reusable, configurable, composable, and suitable for adoption across multiple products.
- Work closely with UX and Design teams to translate design-system requirements into production-ready components.
- Maintain Storybook or similar documentation and component-development environments.
- Establish component versioning, release, backward-compatibility, and adoption practices.
- Drive consistency across products while allowing appropriate product-level flexibility.
Front-End Architecture & Micro Frontends :
- Define scalable modular UI architectures for large and complex applications.
- Provide technical direction for Micro Frontend architectures, where applicable.
- Establish patterns for module boundaries, shared dependencies, application composition, and independent team ownership.
- Evaluate approaches such as Module Federation and other micro-frontend patterns based on product requirements.
- Define standards for communication between independently developed UI modules.
- Address challenges related to performance, dependency management, versioning, deployment, and cross-product consistency.
- Establish architectural guidelines for integrating shared platform capabilities into product applications.
Adoption & Developer Enablement :
- Drive organisation-wide adoption of the UI platform through clear documentation, templates, examples, and enablement programs.
- Create reference implementations and paved paths that allow teams to onboard quickly.
- Develop starter templates and reusable project structures for new applications.
- Provide technical guidance to engineering teams adopting platform capabilities.
- Remove adoption barriers and simplify the developer experience.
- Establish clear migration strategies for teams moving from legacy or fragmented UI implementations.
- Track adoption and identify areas where the platform needs improvement.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor for teams making UI architecture and technology decisions.
