About the Role:
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team and play a key role in designing, building, and delivering scalable, reliable, high-quality software solutions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex technical environments, enjoys solving challenging problems, and wants to have a meaningful impact on product architecture, engineering standards, and team culture.
You will work across the full SDLCdriving technical decisions, improving system performance, mentoring developers, and collaborating closely with product and business teams. While this role still involves significant hands-on coding, it also gives you opportunities to influence architecture, shape best practices, and take ownership of critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance applications and services across the full software development lifecycle.
- Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code, following modern engineering best practices.
- Contribute to architectural discussions, proposing improvements that enhance reliability, performance, and system design.
- Own end-to-end delivery of features and componentsfrom technical design and implementation to deployment and monitoring.
- Review code thoughtfully, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with team standards.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, including production incidents, performance bottlenecks, and system failures.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
- Improve engineering processes and tooling, including CI/CD workflows, testing frameworks, and development standards.
- Contribute to system reliability through monitoring, alerting, logging, and performance optimizations.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing across the team.
- Participate in planning and technical discussions, influencing roadmap decisions with data-driven engineering insights.
- Identify and advocate for technical improvements that enhance scalability, maintainability, and long-term system health.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and bring practical, modern engineering practices into the team.
What Were Looking For:
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, building and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Strong proficiency in Java, with deep experience using Spring Framework and Spring Boot to build scalable, maintainable services.
- Proven expertise designing and building distributed systems, microservices architectures, and event-driven or API-first systems.
- Hands-on experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (e.g., Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, IAM).
- Demonstrated understanding of software architecture, system design principles, performance optimisation, and service reliability.
- Strong skills in debugging, profiling, and root-cause analysis for complex technical issues across distributed environments.
- Solid understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL), caching strategies, and data modelling.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, version control, and modern DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in lean, iterative development environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams including Product, QA, and Design.
- A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with the ability to deliver high-impact work independently while also excelling in team environments.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior and mid-level engineers, contributing to a positive engineering culture.
- Ability to think critically, evaluate trade-offs, and propose scalable, pragmatic solutions to complex technical problems.
- Bonus: Exposure to infrastructure-as-code, observability tooling, or highly available cloud-native architectures.
