Location : Gurugram (Gurgaon), Haryana

About the Role :

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Software Engineer Backend (Java + Agentic AI) to join our growing engineering team. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about building scalable backend systems while leveraging the latest advancements in Generative AI and Agentic AI technologies.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and deploying intelligent AI-powered platforms capable of autonomous reasoning, decision-making, workflow orchestration, and task automation. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, AI Engineers, Data Scientists, Architects, and DevOps teams to build next-generation applications that combine robust backend engineering with advanced AI capabilities.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge Agentic AI systems, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), multi-agent architectures, and cloud-native microservices at scale.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Backend Engineering & System Development :

- Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.

- Build and enhance cloud-native microservices architectures capable of handling high-volume workloads.

- Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven services to support enterprise-grade applications.

- Develop reusable, maintainable, and secure software components following engineering best practices.

- Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.

- Implement distributed systems and asynchronous communication patterns.

- Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to long-term technical strategy.

2. Agentic AI & Intelligent Systems Development :

- Design and build Agentic AI applications capable of autonomous planning, reasoning, decision-making, and execution.

- Develop AI agents that can interact with tools, APIs, external systems, and enterprise applications.

- Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines for contextual knowledge retrieval and intelligent response generation.

- Build multi-step AI workflows and autonomous task orchestration systems.

- Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama, or similar foundation models.

- Develop intelligent backend services that support AI-driven products and user experiences.

- Implement memory management, context retention, prompt engineering, and tool-calling capabilities.

- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to deploy production-grade AI solutions.

3. Cloud, DevOps & Platform Engineering :

- Deploy and manage applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

- Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate workloads using Kubernetes.

- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and release management.

- Implement observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.

- Ensure security, compliance, scalability, and reliability across distributed environments.

4. Collaboration & Leadership :

- Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists, AI Engineers, and Architects to deliver high-quality solutions.

- Participate in technical design discussions and architectural decision-making.

- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers.

- Drive engineering excellence through testing, automation, documentation, and best practices.

- Take ownership of features and projects from concept to production deployment.

Required Technical Skills :

1. Backend Development :

- 5+ years of hands-on software development experience.

- Strong proficiency in Java (Java 8/11/17 or higher).

- Extensive experience with: 1. Spring Boot 2. Spring Cloud 3. Hibernate/JPA 4. REST APIs 5. Microservices Architecture.

- Strong understanding of: 1. Distributed Systems 2. Design Patterns 3. Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) 4. Data Structures & Algorithms 5. Event-Driven Architecture.

- Experience with databases such as: 1. PostgreSQL 2. MySQL 3. MongoDB 4. Redis.

2. Agentic AI & Generative AI :

- Hands-on experience building Agentic AI applications and AI-powered workflows.

- Strong understanding of: 1. Large Language Models (LLMs) 2. Prompt Engineering 3. Agent Orchestration 4. AI Memory Management 5. Tool Calling 6. Autonomous Agents.

- Experience with one or more frameworks: 1. LangChain 2. LangGraph 3. CrewAI 4. AutoGen 5. Semantic Kernel.

- Experience designing and implementing: 1. RAG Architectures 2. Vector Search Solutions 3. Semantic Search Systems 4. Knowledge Retrieval Pipelines.

- Experience integrating AI models through APIs and deploying AI-enabled applications in production environments.

Good to Have :

- Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol).

- Exposure to multi-agent systems and collaborative AI frameworks.

- Experience with AI evaluation frameworks and AI observability platforms.

- Knowledge of Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging technologies.

- Familiarity with graph databases and knowledge graph implementations.

- Experience contributing to open-source AI or backend projects.

- Understanding of enterprise AI governance and responsible AI practices.

Educational Qualification :

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
