About the Role :
We are looking for a highly experienced Python Developer with strong Aviation domain expertise, specifically in Crew Management systems.
This role requires a blend of deep technical capability and functional understanding of airline crew operations, including rostering, scheduling, compliance, and optimization.
This is a domain-critical role where prior experience in airline systems is non-negotiable.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Python for airline crew management solutions
- Work on crew scheduling, rostering, pairing, and tracking systems aligned with aviation regulations
- Collaborate with business stakeholders (Operations, Crew Planning, Compliance teams) to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulatory frameworks (DGCA / EASA / FAA guidelines where applicable)
- Optimize crew allocation, utilization, and cost-efficiency through algorithmic and rule-based systems
- Develop and integrate APIs/services for crew data, scheduling engines, and operational systems
- Work closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams on Linux/Unix-based deployments
- Troubleshoot performance issues and ensure high availability of mission-critical systems
- Participate in system modernization, migration, or enhancement of legacy airline platforms
Mandatory Requirements :
- 7+ years of experience in Python development (backend-focused)
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux/Unix environments
- Mandatory experience in Aviation / Airline industry
- Proven work experience in Crew Management Systems, including :
1. Crew Scheduling
2. Rostering
3. Pairing / Bidding systems
4. Crew legality & compliance
- Understanding of airline operational systems and workflows
Technical Skills Required :
- Python (Core + frameworks like Flask/Django/FastAPI)
- Strong experience in Linux/Unix systems (shell scripting, process management)
- API development (RESTful services, integrations)
- Database experience (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar)
- Experience with scheduling/optimization logic (good to have)
- Familiarity with microservices architecture (preferred)
- Version control (Git) and CI/CD practices
Domain Expertise (Critical) :
Candidates must have hands-on exposure to airline crew systems such as :
1. Crew Planning & Optimization
2. Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL)
3. Crew pairing & bidline generation
4. Disruption management (irregular operations handling)
Experience with industry tools/platforms (good to have) :
1. Jeppesen Crew Management
2. Sabre Crew Manager
3. AIMS / Lufthansa Systems
Good to Have :
- Experience working with global airlines or aviation IT vendors
- Exposure to real-time operational systems
- Knowledge of optimization algorithms or constraint-based scheduling
- Cloud exposure (AWS/Azure)
What This Role Is NOT :
- Not a generic Python/backend role
- Not suitable for candidates without aviation experience
- Not a data science or analytics-only position
Why Join :
- Opportunity to work on mission-critical airline systems
- High impact role influencing crew operations & airline efficiency
- Exposure to complex real-world optimization problems
Important Note :
Candidates without Aviation + Crew Management experience will not be considered
