Work Timings : Full-time Onsite | 8 hours/day | 5 days/week

Role Overview :

We are hiring a Senior NetBackup Specialist to lead and manage the backup and data protection infrastructure for a government organization in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This long-term engagement spans 36 months, covering head office and remote data center branches, and requires weekly onsite presence with full operational responsibility for Symantec Veritas NetBackup solutions.

The role involves licensing, renewal, support, operations, maintenance, and proactive resilience strategy development, ensuring business continuity and protection from ransomware and data loss threats.

Key Responsibilities :

NetBackup Operations & Maintenance :

- Manage Symantec Veritas NetBackup systems as integrated media servers with scalable storage.

- Handle license renewals, upgrades, patching, and firmware updates.

- Ensure daily backup/restore operations, job scheduling, policy management, and performance tuning.

- Perform regular system health checks, logs review, issue resolution, and disaster recovery testing.

- Support both virtual and physical environments, ensuring 99.9% uptime across all backup services.

- Maintain compliance with industry standards and customer SLAs.

Infrastructure Resilience & Security :

- Design and implement a data resilience strategy, including ransomware protection.

- Leverage anomaly detection, automated malware scanning, and immutable storage techniques.

- Implement Veritas Alta SaaS Protection, Alta Recovery Vault, and Veritas IT Analytics where applicable.

- Manage cloud backup integration (PaaS, hybrid cloud) and SaaS application data protection.

- Design multi-layered infrastructure defenses, including air-gapped backup environments.

Documentation & Quality Assurance :

- Create and maintain low-level design (LLD) and operational documentation.

- Follow change management procedures for all system updates and configuration changes.

- Perform quality audits, restore testing, and backup integrity checks.

- Optimize backup policies and rule sets for maximum efficiency.

Service Delivery & Support :

- Provide weekly onsite support, with physical presence for incident handling and audits.

- Conduct monthly preventive maintenance visits.

- Collaborate with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to ensure seamless operations.

- Ensure timely response and resolution of support incidents as per critical SLA requirements.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills :

Education :

- Minimum 7 years of experience in IT infrastructure and security roles.

- Proven expertise in Symantec Veritas NetBackup implementation and management.

Technical Skills :

In-depth experience with :

- Symantec Veritas NetBackup

- Veritas Alta Data Protection & SaaS Protection

- Backup/Restore for physical, virtual, and cloud environments

- Backup automation, analytics, deduplication, and encryption

- Patch management and system updates in production environments

- Strong understanding of resilience architecture, including immutability, air-gapping, and multi-cloud recovery.

Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory)

- CISSP, CISM, or CEH Security governance & threat detection

- Familiarity with NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO standards, and cloud platforms.

Soft Skills :

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent documentation and reporting abilities.

- Effective communicator with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

- Ability to work under pressure and handle critical incidents independently.
