Role Overview :

We are hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer to build the consumer-facing layer of a native restaurant marketplace app from scratch. The product spans iOS, Android, and web covering discovery, ordering, payments, and real-time updates.

This is a dedicated frontend role. You will own React Native and React.js, translating high-fidelity Figma designs into production-grade interfaces that real users depend on. You will work directly with product and backend engineering, with enough API literacy to stay unblocked - but your focus is the UI layer.

What You'll Do :

- Own the React Native codebase across iOS and Android - features, performance, platform-specific behaviour, App Store and Play Store releases

- Build and maintain the React.js web frontend - responsive, accessible, and consistent with the mobile experience

- Implement pixel-precise UI from Figma designs across restaurant discovery, menu browsing, ordering, checkout, order tracking, and account flows

- Own state management - Zustand for client state, TanStack Query for server state, Redux with Thunk for global actions

- Implement Firebase Auth, Cloud Messaging, and Dynamic Links across mobile and web

- Integrate Stripe checkout flows - payment intents, card UI, refund states, and confirmation screens

- Handle app lifecycle concerns - background state, push notification handling, deep linking, and cold start performance

- Manage platform-specific differences - iOS and Android rendering, safe area handling, keyboard behaviour, gesture navigation

- Optimise frontend performance - list virtualisation, render bottlenecks, image loading, bundle size, and core web vitals

- Participate in code review with rigour and contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements

Must-Have Requirements :

- 5+ years building production React Native apps - real users, platform-specific constraints, store releases

- Strong React.js - hooks, component architecture, memoisation, rendering model, and scalable component design

- State management depth - Zustand, TanStack Query, Redux with Thunk (not just one, all three)

- Firebase integration (Auth, FCM, Dynamic Links) across mobile and web

- Stripe payment integration in consumer-facing apps

- CSS and styling discipline - responsive layouts, cross-browser consistency, pixel-level fidelity from Figma

- Deep understanding of React Navigation - stack, tab, drawer navigators, deep linking, authenticated routing

- FlatList and SectionList optimisation - keyExtractor, getItemLayout, rendering large datasets without jank

- Jest, ESLint, Prettier - genuine testing discipline, not checkbox familiarity

- Excellent written and spoken English - async-first remote team, clear communication is non-negotiable

- Working knowledge of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) as part of daily workflow

- Available for 4-5 hours of daily overlap with US Eastern Time

Nice to Have :

- Food delivery, restaurant, or hospitality consumer app experience

- Real-time data patterns - WebSockets, polling, live order status

- GraphQL consumption alongside REST

- Accessibility engineering - WCAG awareness, screen reader compatibility

- Experience with Next.js or equivalent SSR frameworks

- Contribution to shared component libraries or design systems

- Experience working alongside external design agencies or distributed teams
