Role Overview:
Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Frontend Developer to lead the design, build, and evolution of React and Next.js applications for an enterprise-scale, serverless platform on AWS supporting national-level digital infrastructure.
You will own the frontend across the full software development lifecycle, from UI architecture and design-system work through development, deployment, and production support. You will work closely with architects, designers, backend engineers, and delivery leads to ship scalable, accessible, high-performance user experiences, while setting standards and mentoring other frontend engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture, design, and development of responsive, accessible web applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Build performant Next.js applications using the App Router, React Server Components, SSR, SSG, and ISR.
- Design and maintain a reusable component library and design system in partnership with UX/UI designers.
- Define patterns for state management, routing, data fetching, caching, and error handling.
- Integrate frontends with RESTful APIs and serverless backend services, collaborating with backend engineers on API contracts.
- Own frontend performance, monitoring Core Web Vitals and optimizing bundle size, rendering, and load times.
- Ensure WCAG accessibility compliance across all user-facing features.
- Establish and enforce frontend engineering standards through code reviews, automated testing, and linting.
- Contribute to frontend build, CI/CD, and deployment pipelines on AWS.
- Support production releases, monitoring, and troubleshooting of frontend issues.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to frontend developers.
- Leverage AI tools to improve developer productivity, code quality, and UI testing.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Languages: expert-level TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- React: hooks and functional components, advanced component patterns, state management (Redux Toolkit, React Query/TanStack Query, or Context API), and React Router.
- Next.js: App Router, React Server Components, SSR/SSG/ISR, route handlers and middleware, data fetching and caching, and SEO/performance optimization (Core Web Vitals).
- Web fundamentals: semantic HTML5, CSS3, and modern styling (CSS Modules, Tailwind CSS, or styled-components); responsive design and WCAG 2.1/2.2 accessibility.
- Tooling & testing: Vite or Webpack, npm/pnpm, ESLint/Prettier, Jest or Vitest, React Testing Library, and Cypress or Playwright.
- Design systems: experience building and maintaining shared component libraries (e.g., Storybook).
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design and integrating APIs with frontend applications.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and frontend deployment automation.
- Familiarity with frontend monitoring and logging (e.g., Amazon CloudWatch RUM, Amazon Managed Grafana, Sentry).
- Proven track record of technical leadership, code review, and mentoring in a team setting.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Familiarity with serverless backends (AWS Lambda, API Gateway) and authentication with Amazon Cognito.
- Experience hosting Next.js on AWS (Amplify, OpenNext, or S3 + CloudFront) and AWS CDK in TypeScript.
- Experience with micro-frontends or monorepo tooling (Nx, Turborepo).
- Experience integrating AI/ML-powered features (e.g., Amazon Bedrock) into user interfaces.
- Exposure to large-scale or government/national infrastructure systems.
- Backend AWS work (SQS, Step Functions, EventBridge, SES, Glue).
