As a Senior Engineering Manager (Frontend), you will lead and mentor high-performing frontend engineering teams responsible for building scalable, user-centric web applications. You will drive the technical vision, architectural decisions, and execution strategy for React/Angular-based platforms while ensuring alignment with product goals and business outcomes. This role requires a strong balance of people leadership, technical depth, and the ability to collaborate across product, design, backend, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

Team Leadership & People Management :

- Lead, mentor, and grow frontend engineering teams, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Drive hiring, onboarding, and career development for frontend engineers across levels.

- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and support engineers in achieving their growth goals.

Technical Strategy & Architecture :

- Define and implement the frontend engineering roadmap, ensuring alignment with product and business priorities.

- Oversee architecture and design of large-scale React.js/Angular applications with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability.

- Review and guide technical decisions, ensuring high engineering standards and best practices.

Execution & Delivery :

- Oversee end-to-end delivery of frontend features and projects, ensuring timely execution and high-quality outcomes.

- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and backend teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.

- Ensure front-end code quality through structured code reviews, testing strategies, and continuous integration processes.

Technical Expertise :

- Provide hands-on guidance when needed, especially in React.js/Angular, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and frontend architecture.

- Ensure smooth integration with RESTful APIs and backend services.

- Drive improvements in application performance, accessibility, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.

Operational Excellence :

- Enhance frontend development workflows, tools, and automation to improve team productivity.

- Establish and enforce coding standards, documentation practices, and engineering best practices.

- Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring stability and reliability across web platforms.

Innovation & Thought Leadership :

- Stay current with emerging frontend technologies, frameworks, and industry trends.

- Champion new ideas, tools, and approaches to continuously evolve A- # Africas frontend ecosystem.

- Lead initiatives to modernize UI frameworks, improve frontend architecture, and leverage innovative techniques for user experience.

Qualifications & Experience :

- 12 years of experience in frontend development, with at least 3 - 4 years in engineering management or technical leadership roles.

- Strong expertise in React.js/Angular , JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and modern frontend tooling.

- Proven experience managing and scaling engineering teams within high-growth or large-scale environments.

- Deep understanding of frontend architecture, performance optimization, browser rendering, and cross-platform considerations.

- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

- Experience working with distributed teams or multi-country digital platforms is a plus.
