Senior Engineer - Vertica Database Administration

About the Role :

We are seeking an experienced Vertica DBA with expertise in Vertica or Postgres database administration.

The role involves managing multiple Vertica clusters, performing installations, configurations, migrations, backups, and providing in-house support to various teams.

Key Responsibilities :

- Manage and maintain multiple Vertica database clusters in a Linux environment.

- Install, configure, and upgrade Vertica databases; handle migrations, backups, restores, and recovery procedures.

- Work with minimum 3-node cluster configurations.

- Integrate and configure DBs on Linux servers.

- Provide in-house support to internal teams such as customer service and deployment.

- Write and optimize Shell scripts and SQL; generate dynamic SQL from DB.

- Ensure high availability and performance through DB tuning and optimization.

- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve DB-related issues, performing root cause analysis.

- Apply system patches, perform software upgrades, and maintain system configuration.

- Interact directly with customers, providing timely updates and technical solutions.

- Collaborate with management on customer updates and future planning.

- Be available for on-site support (including international travel if required) for training, installation, or configuration activities.

Requirements :

- 4- 5 years of experience as a DBA in Vertica or Postgres, preferably in a Linux environment.

- Strong DB tuning and performance optimization skills.

- Proficiency in Shell scripting and PL/SQL.

- Experience with Oracle/Postgres is an added advantage.

- Strong understanding of Vertica architecture and cluster management.

- Bachelor's degree in CSE, ECE, EE, AE, or Telecommunications from an elite university.

- Mandatory knowledge of Unix/Linux OS.

- Team-oriented, self-driven, and quick learner with strong troubleshooting abilities.
