About Evident Digital Pathology :
Evident Scientific, formerly part of Olympus Corporation, is a global leader in life-science microscopy and optical instrumentation.
Following the acquisition of Pramana, a pioneer in autonomous digital imaging, Evident has combined its world-class optical heritage with Pramanas expertise in software, robotics, and artificial intelligence to redefine the future of Digital Pathology.
Our high-performing engineering team has already pushed the boundaries of autonomy by building one of the worlds most advanced whole-slide imaging platforms.
This platform has been deployed at Mayo Clinic to help create the worlds largest digital pathology archive and is currently used by over 30 leading medical institutions across the United States and Europe to power clinical workflows that directly support patient care.
As part of Evident, the team is now advancing the next generation of intelligent imagingmoving beyond autonomous scanning toward systems that are self-aware, adaptive, and capable of performing real-time AI inference at the edge.
Role Summary :
As a Senior Engineer - Digital Imaging, you will research, design, and develop advanced imaging algorithms and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate innovative ideas into production-ready solutions.
Your work will directly contribute to improving image quality, algorithm performance, and intelligent imaging workflows for whole slide imaging (WSI) systems used in digital pathology.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, develop, and optimize imaging algorithms for image segmentation, classification, and enhancement for tissue specimen analysis on glass slides and whole-slide images.
- Apply advanced knowledge of color spaces (RGB, HSV, LAB, etc.) to enhance image processing pipelines and improve image fidelity.
- Collaborate with the Image Quality Evaluation team to continuously improve WSI scan quality across diverse specimen types.
- Develop and maintain end-to-end algorithmic models governing imaging parameters and acquisition sequences to enable intelligent, content-aware imaging workflows.
- Partner with platform and software engineering teams to co-optimize algorithms with production software implementations.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers on image processing techniques, algorithm design, and analytics best practices.
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with emphasis on image or signal processing.
- Proven experience completing at least one full R&D lifecycle, transitioning image acquisition and processing pipelines from research to production systems.
- Strong expertise in image processing algorithms, color science, and image quality optimization.
- Solid mathematical foundation in probability, linear algebra, and calculus.
- Excellent programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries.
- Understanding of sensor and camera systems and their interaction within imaging platforms.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Strong background in image processing, optics, or signal processing.
- Demonstrated innovation through patents, publications, or impactful research contributions.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks and neural network architectures.
- Familiarity with compute engines and tools for graphics, computer vision, and AI/ML workloads.
- Working knowledge of statistical modeling, probability theory, and stochastic methods
