Senior Embedded Software Engineer - Linux BSP / Device Driver

About the Role :

Aeva is looking for an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer with strong fundamentals in Embedded C and Embedded Linux to develop next-generation embedded software for cutting-edge sensing platforms.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in Linux-based embedded systems, Board Support Package (BSP) development, device driver development, board bring-up, and hardware-software integration. Strong debugging skills and excellent embedded programming fundamentals are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain Embedded C software for Linux-based embedded systems.

- Develop and enhance Linux device drivers and Board Support Packages (BSP).

- Perform board bring-up, hardware enablement, and platform integration.

- Work closely with hardware teams for board validation and hardware-software integration.

- Debug and resolve low-level software, kernel, and hardware issues.

- Develop and maintain bootloader, kernel, and system software components.

- Optimize system performance, stability, and reliability.

- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.

- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality embedded software solutions.

Required Skills :

- Strong programming skills in Embedded C.

- Good understanding of Embedded Linux.

- Experience with Linux Kernel and Device Driver Development.

- Experience in BSP (Board Support Package) development.

- Experience in Board Bring-up and Hardware Enablement.

- Knowledge of RTOS concepts.

- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

- Experience with multithreaded programming.

- Experience working with hardware interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB, PCIe or Ethernet.

- Experience with Yocto, U-Boot or Buildroot is highly desirable.

Good to Have :

- C++ exposure.

- Device Tree development.

- Kernel debugging using GDB/JTAG.

- Experience in hardware-software integration.

- Knowledge of ARM-based embedded platforms.

- Experience working with embedded product development.

Preferred Experience :

- 8-15 years of experience in Embedded Software Development.

- Experience in Linux-based embedded product development.

- Strong understanding of embedded system fundamentals.
