Senior Database Administrator - SQL Server

Job Summary :

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator with deep technical expertise and a proactive mindset to lead the design, implementation, monitoring, and performance tuning of enterprise database systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, integrity, and security of mission-critical databases while also mentoring junior DBAs and collaborating with development, infrastructure, and security teams.

Key Responsibilities :

Database Architecture & Design :

- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance database solutions.

- Define and enforce database architecture standards and best practices.

- Evaluate and implement data modeling techniques to support business requirements.

- Install, configure, and maintain database systems (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.).

- Plan and manage database capacity, upgrades, patching, and migration.

- Monitor and maintain high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and replication setups.

- Perform root cause analysis for incidents and propose long-term solutions.

- Proactively analyze and optimize complex queries, indexes, and stored procedures.

- Conduct regular database performance assessments and fine-tune system resources.

- Implement advanced monitoring and alerting systems to ensure performance SLAs.

- Define and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies.

- Conduct periodic restore drills to validate backup integrity and RTO/RPO objectives.

Technical Skills & Tools :

- Expertise in one or more of : MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.

- Deep understanding of RDBMS internals, NoSQL databases, and data lifecycle management.

- Proficient in tools like SolarWinds, Prometheus, Nagios, SQL Profiler, OEM, or pgBadger.

- Use of AWR/ASH, Query Plans, Index Analysis.

- Advanced scripting skills using Shell, Python, Perl, or PowerShell.

- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Chef is a plus.

Qualifications :

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

- 7+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise-level database administration.

Certifications such as :

1. Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)

2. Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate

3. AWS Certified Database Specialty (preferred, not mandatory)
