Senior Database Administrator

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to lead Azure-based migration and modernization initiatives for enterprise-scale SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL environments.

Key Responsibilities :

- Execute and validate Azure DMS/DMA assessments, schema conversions, and data migrations.

- Configure and maintain SQL Server Always On HA/DR setups across production and test environments.

- Modify and enhance migration scripts using PowerShell or Bash, ensuring proper logging, error handling, and

parameterization.

- Perform performance benchmarking, query optimization, and index tuning using SQL Profiler, Query Store, and execution plans.

- Ensure compliance with CIS and organizational security standards, including encryption, auditing, and access governance.

- Support patch rollbacks, DR test cycles, and failover validation to ensure environment resilience.

- Collaborate with application owners to identify and document database-to-application dependencies.

- Contribute to runbooks, rollback documentation, and cutover plans for production migrations.

- Partner with cloud, security, and DevOps teams to drive modernization and governance best practices.

Must-Have Skills :

- Proven expertise in SQL Server (20162022), including Always On HA/DR setup, failover simulation, and index tuning.

- Hands-on experience migrating workloads to Azure SQL or Azure SQL Managed Instance, including backup, DR setup, and

performance validation.

- Exposure to Oracle environments (11g/12c/19c) for schema assessment, patching cycles, and EOL reporting.

- Practical experience using DMA for assessments and DMS for schema/data migration, including retry management and error handling.

- Ability to modify and extend PowerShell or Bash migration scripts for automation and monitoring.

- Strong understanding of performance tuning using query plans, statistics updates, and wait type analysis.

- Experience participating in HA/DR readiness testing, backup validation, and failover group configuration.

- Familiarity with applying compliance and security practices such as encryption-at-rest, audit logging, and access control.

- Experience working with application owners to document dependencies and impact assessments during migration planning.

Nice-to-Have Skills :

- Exposure to PostgreSQL migrations or validation activities, including working with pg_dump, roles, and schema mapping.

- Familiarity with open-source migration or version control tools such as Ora2Pg, Flyway, or Liquibase.

- Understanding of Azure licensing models (AHUB, BYOL) and associated cost considerations.

- Experience collaborating on DevOps pipelines that include database provisioning or migration steps.

- Ability to contribute to detailed rollback documentation, failover SOPs, and recovery runbooks.

- Comfortable participating in UAT or migration review calls, discussing risks, and presenting rollback or remediation

options.
