Senior Data Platform & Database Engineer

Description :

We are seeking a Senior Data Platform & Database Engineer with 6 years of relevant experience to take ownership of our SQL Serverbased data and reporting environment while helping shape our transition to a modern cloud data platform and Power BI or related tools.

The role blends maintaining todays critical systems with building tomorrows analytics foundation.

Key Responsibilities :

- Maintain and Support Legacy Data Estate (5060%)

- Manage and optimise SQL Server databases, SSIS packages, SSRS reports, and T-SQL code.

- Perform routine database administration (performance tuning, security, backups, resilience).

- Troubleshoot data issues affecting reporting and Power BI.

Build the Future Data Platform (4050%) :

- Contribute to data platform design and implementation.

- Develop and support data pipelines for analytics and reporting.

- Apply solid data modelling for BI and semantic models.

- Prepare high-quality datasets for AI/ML use cases.

- Support migration from SQL Server to cloud data-lake and contribute to data standards and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience :

Essential :

- Hands-on skills with SSIS, SSRS, T-SQL development.

- Data modelling for analytics and Power BI dataset performance.

- Strong troubleshooting across data pipelines and databases.

- Comfortable owning business-critical systems.

Desirable :

- Experience or interest in cloud data lakes.

- Exposure to Azure or other cloud platforms.

- Knowledge of ELT / analytics engineering.

- Experience preparing data for AI/ML.

- Python or scripting for automation.

- Understanding of data governance and quality concepts.
