About the Role:

SG IT is looking for an experienced Senior COBOL Developer to join our technology team and contribute to enterprise-grade, mission-critical applications.

Key Skills & Requirements:

- 8+ years of strong hands-on COBOL development experience.

- Solid experience in mainframe-based enterprise applications.

- Strong understanding of application development, enhancement, maintenance, and production support.

- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to analyse business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.

- Experience working on large-scale, mission-critical applications.

- Good understanding of SDLC and software development practices.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong stakeholder collaboration and teamwork abilities.

- Ability to work independently and effectively with distributed/remote teams.

- Banking / Financial Services experience is highly preferred.

- Experience with high-volume transaction processing environments will be an advantage.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL-based enterprise applications.

- Analyse business and functional requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

- Develop efficient, scalable, and maintainable COBOL programs.

- Perform code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and defect resolution.

- Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely technical solutions.

- Work closely with Business Analysts, Product Owners, QA, and other technical teams.

- Participate in requirement analysis, technical design, development, testing, and deployment activities.

- Support application releases and production implementation activities.

- Identify opportunities for application performance improvement and modernization.

- Ensure adherence to coding standards, development processes, and quality practices.

- Prepare and maintain technical documentation as required.

- Collaborate with international stakeholders and distributed teams to ensure successful delivery.

- Take ownership of assigned modules and deliverables while meeting project timelines.
