Role : Senior Bioinformatics Developer

Role Overview :
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatics Developer with strong expertise in Python programming, NGS data analysis, and Nextflow-based workflow development.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with bioinformatics tools, high throughput sequencing data, pipeline optimization, and Agile development practices.
This role involves close collaboration with software engineering teams to design, develop, and maintain robust bioinformatics workflows for somatic, clinical, and high-throughput data processing.
The candidate will also be responsible for documentation, troubleshooting, and enhancing pipeline scalability and reliability.
Responsibilities :
- Develop, optimize, and maintain Nextflow pipelines for somatic, germline, and clinical NGS analysis.
- Perform NGS secondary analysis including alignment, variant calling, QC, annotation, and downstream processing.
- Integrate and automate bioinformatics tools (e.g., BWA, GATK, Samtools, Picard, Sentieon, CNV callers, etc.).
- Work closely with software development and DevOps teams to ensure smooth pipeline deployment and scalability.
- Author and maintain technical documentation, workflow specifications, and process SOPs.
- Troubleshoot pipeline issues, perform root-cause analysis, and improve system robustness.
- Implement workflow versioning, CI/CD integration, and reproducibility best practices.
- Manage tasks using JIRA or similar issue tracking systems and work within Agile/Scrum processes.
- Contribute to long-term architecture decisions for high-throughput production systems.
- Support validation efforts for clinical-grade pipelines.
Qualifications :
- 5+ years of experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related fields.
- Strong proficiency in Python programming, including data structures, unit testing, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Nextflow workflow development (DSL1/DSL2).
- Deep understanding of NGS data analysis pipelines, QC metrics, and sequencing technologies.
- Expertise with commonly used tools in genomics (e.g., BWA, GATK, Samtools, FastQC, VEP/ANNOVAR).
- Experience working in Linux environments and shell scripting.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and workflow containerization (Docker/Singularity).
- Experience with Agile development and JIRA or similar workflow tracking systems.
- Ability to write clear documentation and collaborate effectively with cross functional teams.
