We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to build the scalable infrastructure powering its next-generation AI-native entertainment platform. You'll work on high-performance backend systems that enable real-time AI conversations, interactive storytelling, and intelligent user experiences at scale.

As part of a fast-moving engineering team, you'll design scalable APIs, distributed systems, asynchronous processing pipelines, and payment infrastructure while collaborating closely with Product, Design, and AI teams. This is an opportunity to solve challenging problems in LLM orchestration, real-time communication, distributed systems, and scalable backend architecture.

Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python and Django.

- Build high-performance RESTful APIs and WebSocket-based services powering real-time AI interactions.

- Design and optimize asynchronous processing pipelines using Celery, Redis, Kafka, and AWS SQS.

- Integrate secure payment gateways such as Stripe, Razorpay, and PhonePe, including webhook handling, payment ledgers, refunds, and reconciliation workflows.

- Design scalable database architectures using PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and BigQuery, ensuring performance, reliability, and data integrity.

- Optimize backend services for low latency, scalability, fault tolerance, and production reliability.

- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and AI teams to rapidly build and launch customer-facing features.

- Maintain high engineering standards through automated testing, technical documentation, monitoring dashboards, and production SLO compliance.

- Continuously improve system performance, observability, and backend architecture as the platform scales.

Skills :

- 3 to 6 years of hands-on backend development experience using Python and Django.

- Strong experience designing and building scalable REST APIs and WebSocket-based applications.

- Practical experience with distributed task processing using: Celery, Redis, Kafka, AWS SQS.

- Strong expertise in database design, optimization, and query performance using: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, BigQuery (SQL).

- Experience integrating payment gateways such as Stripe, Razorpay, or PhonePe, including webhook management and payment workflows.

- Strong understanding of backend system design, scalability, distributed systems, and software engineering best practices.

- Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering and product teams.

Preferred Qualifications :

Candidates with the following experience will have an added advantage:

- Experience with Node.js development.

- Exposure to feature flag systems and experimentation platforms.

- Experience building AI-powered, real-time, or conversational applications.

- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and scalable distributed systems.

- Previous startup experience with high ownership and rapid product development.
