SAP Technical Consultant

Description :

SAP Technical Consultant (SAP Basis/ BTP/ Data & Analytics) is an SME in the SAP Technology space. He/she will have deep knowledge of the Shell IT infrastructure setup, Database Administration and will drive the integration of the new system/platform into IT landscape.

This includes knowledge of SAP technology, infrastructure requirements, authentication protocols, network dependencies, and other necessary integration requirements.

For the application or technology being developed / deployed, the Technical Consultant typically performs the following :

- Analysis of and at times, support in developing Technical Design

- Advising the Technical Configuration of Cloud and On Premises based solutions

- Working with Business Analysts and Architects to translate Requirements into Technical Design Specifications

- Works with the Technical Lead, Architects and Business IT on providing specific consultancy service to enable delivery of SAP projects based on new SAP technologies.

- Work closely with functional teams on integrations, upgrades, and migration requirements of traditional SAP solutions.

- Good knowledge of various aspects of SAP workload management.

- Good knowledge on SAP Enterprise Solution Manager.

- Work closely with the SAP Program to implement various SAP technologies (SAP BTP, CPI, cloud identity services, BTP HANA Cloud, Solution Manager Focused Build, FRUN, S/4HANA Cloud, SAP on Azure, etc.) across projects.

- Develops and uphold best practices, standards and SAP technical solution level quality across the projects worked on.

- Supports the Technical Lead and the Architects in technical details, so that new SAP technologies can be planned & implemented throughout the business consistently.

- Set up connections (live and import) to various data sources (e.g., SAP BW, HANA, S/4HANA, Datasphere); configure Cloud Connector/Agent.

- Manage data provisioning/integration, configure remote access (Smart Data Access, Cloud Connector), and handle data import/export.

- Manage secure connections to BDC components (e.g., Datasphere, Databricks); activate data packages for consumption.

- Provision and configure BDC services within SAP for Me, monitor system connectivity, and manage intelligent application installation.

- Monitor database performance, memory, and CPU usage via SAP HANA Cockpit; configure system settings; manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR)

- Configure tenant settings, monitor capacities, manage spaces (allocate storage/workload priorities), and track object changes.

- Manage database users, roles, and privileges; configure authentication methods like LDAP and SAML; enforce password policies.

- Implement data governance via Catalog, manage IP allowlists, manage certificates, and monitor audit logs for compliance.

- Implement security mechanisms, manage auditing of database activities, and secure data at `rest and in transit.

- Provides technical advisory in addressing technical issues and where required, implement technical designs in SAP projects.

- Provides technical advisory to SOM on resolution of SAP technical issues in ongoing projects such as SAPS/4 HANA, BTP, Integration, NetWeaver, Secure Network Communication, SAPGUI, SAP Upgrades, Migrations etc.

- Able to contribute to the technical design and implementation of SAP systems in Shell.

- Works with project management and SAP AG to resolve technical issues that are impeding the plan to implement & adopt new SAP technologies in Shell.

- Comply with all Information Risk Management accountabilities

Skills & Requirements :

- Extensive technical delivery experience in SAP projects

- Experience in developing and implementing SAP technical standards & processes

- Good knowledge in the following technological areas :

• SAP Business Technology Platform Architecture
• SAP ECC6 & S/4 HANA
• SAP Agility & PaaS
• SAP Integration
• SAP on Hyperscalars
• SAP on Azure.
• SAP Cloud Solutions
• SAPGUI, SNC and other common SAP Basis areas
• SAP BTP - HANA Cloud Administration
• SAP BTP Datasphere/Data products experience is a big plus.
• SAP BTP CIS (IAS/IPS) skills added advantage.
