About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled SAP ABAP Consultant to join our team in Chennai. This is a full-time, on-site position. The ideal candidate will have 710 years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development and possess a strong background in delivering robust, high-quality solutions. This role is crucial for developing, enhancing, and maintaining our SAP applications to meet evolving business requirements. Immediate joiners are highly preferred.

Responsibilities :

The SAP ABAP Consultant will be responsible for a variety of development, maintenance, and support activities, including:

- Development & Enhancement: Design, develop, test, and implement custom SAP applications and enhancements using the ABAP programming language.

- Reporting: Create complex and efficient ALV Reports (ABAP List Viewer) to meet specific business reporting needs.

- Enhancements: Implement system modifications and enhancements using standard SAP techniques, including User Exits, BAdIs (Business Add-Ins), and Enhancement Framework.

- Interfaces: Develop and manage interfaces with external systems using technologies such as BAPI (Business Application Programming Interface) and IDoc (Intermediate Document) for seamless data exchange.

- Modern ABAP: Apply strong knowledge and practical experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) in ABAP to build reusable, scalable, and maintainable code.

- Collaboration: Work closely with SAP Functional Consultants, Business Analysts, and end-users to understand business requirements, define technical specifications, and provide effective, timely solutions.

- Debugging & Support: Perform rigorous debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of existing and new ABAP programs.

- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and post-implementation support guides.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Experience: 7 to 10 years of professional, hands-on experience as an SAP ABAP Consultant.

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Technical Proficiency :

- Expert-level proficiency in developing and optimizing ALV Reports.

- Proven experience in implementing various SAP enhancements, particularly User Exits, BAdIs, and the Enhancement Framework.

- In-depth knowledge and practical working experience with BAPI and IDoc interfaces for integration scenarios.

- Strong expertise in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and their application in ABAP.

- Familiarity with other key ABAP areas (e.g., Dynpro, Forms like SAPScripts/SmartForms/Adobe Forms, performance analysis).

- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a meticulous approach to detail and quality.

- Teamwork & Independence: Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.

- Communication: Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications (A Plus) :

- Prior experience in similar roles within a dynamic technology consulting environment.

- Experience with SAP S/4HANA development paradigms (e.g., CDS Views, ABAP RESTful Application Programming (RAP)).

- Familiarity with other integration technologies like SAP PI/PO or CPI.
