The Opportunity :

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Roku Player team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality applications for Roku devices, contributing to the delivery of exceptional OTT streaming experiences. You will leverage your expertise in BrightScript, Scene Graph XML, and the Roku SDK to build robust and scalable solutions.

What You Will Do :

- Design, develop, and maintain applications for Roku players using the Roku SDK, BrightScript, and Scene Graph XML.

- Implement and optimize video streaming functionalities, ensuring smooth playback and high performance.

- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and implement new features.

- Integrate with third-party libraries and APIs, including analytics and advertising platforms.

- Write clean, well-documented, and testable code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.

- Conduct thorough unit testing and regression testing using RATF (Roku Automated Test Framework).

- Debug and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring application stability and reliability.

- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of the development process.

- Stay up to date with the latest Roku platform developments and technologies.

What You Bring :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

- 5+ years of experience in software development.

- Proven experience developing applications with BrightScript and Scene Graph XML, or another scripting language.

- Strong understanding of the Roku Media Engine or another media engine.

- Strong understanding of streaming KPIs and analysing them to diagnose streaming issues.

- Solid understanding of software development principles and design patterns (e.g., MVC, MVVM).

- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

- Proficiency in unit testing and automated testing.

- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Core Skills :

- Technical Skills : BrightScript, Scene Graph XML, video streaming optimization, MVC/MVVM design patterns, unit and regression testing.

- Tools & Technologies : Roku SDK, RATF (Roku Automated Test Framework), Git.

- Soft Skills : Cross-functional collaboration, clear technical communication, problem-solving, debugging.

Preferred / Good to Have :

- Experience building OTT streaming applications.

- Understanding of video streaming protocols and formats (e.g., HLS, DASH).

- Experience integrating with analytics SDKs.

- Experience working in an Agile development environment.

- Familiarity with Roku's Developer Dashboard.
