Core Responsibilities :

- Architecture and Design : Define system architecture for device ingestion, stream processing, and multi-tenant fleet portals using MERN stack and microservices.

- Backend Development : Lead implementation of Node.js/TypeScript services, REST and GraphQL APIs, authentication with JWT, and real-time features using Socket.IO and Kafka.

- Frontend Leadership : Oversee React.js applications for dashboards, maps, and admin panels; ensure accessibility, performance, and a coherent component library.

- Data and Persistence : Drive schema design and optimisations across PostgreSQL, Clickhouse, and Redis for telemetry, events, caching and analysis.

- IoT Integrations : Design and maintain device onboarding, telemetry ingestion, command-and-control flows, and integrations with MQTT or other device gateways.

- DevOps and Cloud : Own CI/CD, containerization, and deployments on Azure and AWS using Docker, Kubernetes, Nginx, and infrastructure best practices.

- Security and Compliance : Establish secure data flows, encryption, role-based access control, and operational procedures for GDPR and region-specific compliance.

- Operational Excellence : Set SLAs, implement monitoring and observability, run incident response, and optimize system reliability and cost.

- People and Process : Mentor engineers, run design and code reviews, grow the team, and enforce engineering standards and documentation.

Required Qualifications :

- Experience : 4+ years in software engineering with 2+ years in a lead or senior technical role.

- Stack Proficiency : Strong MERN experience; JavaScript and TypeScript; Node.js and Apollo GraphQL; production React.js.

- Datastores : Hands-on with PostgreSQL, Clickhouse, and Redis.

- Realtime and Messaging : Practical experience with Kafka or similar event streaming and Socket.IO for live updates.

- Cloud and DevOps : Production deployments on Azure and AWS; Docker and Nginx; CI/CD with GitHub/GitLab.

- APIs and Security : Design and implement GraphQL and REST APIs; secure systems using JWT and modern auth patterns.

- Problem Solving : Strong debugging, performance tuning, and distributed systems troubleshooting skills.

- Communication : Clear stakeholder communication and experience mentoring or leading engineers.

Preferred Skills :

- IoT Protocols : Familiarity with MQTT, CoAP, BLE, or telematics standards.

- Mapping and Geospatial : Experience with maps, geofencing, and spatial queries.

- Stream Processing : Experience with time-series data, stream processing, or real-time analytics.

- Payments and Billing : Prior work integrating Stripe or similar billing systems.

- Testing and API Tools : Comfortable with Postman and automated integration testing strategies.
