Core Responsibilities :

- Architectural Design: Lead the design and implementation of highly scalable, available, and secure database systems, encompassing both relational (SQL/Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB) environments.

- Best Practices & Standards: Define and enforce database design, modeling, coding, and security best practices and standards across the organization.

- Performance Optimization: Analyze complex database environments to identify bottlenecks and implement advanced optimization strategies, including indexing, query tuning, capacity planning, and data partitioning, specifically for large-scale databases.

- Data Modeling: Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for new and existing applications, ensuring consistency and adherence to business requirements.

- Technology Evaluation: Research, evaluate, and recommend new database technologies and tools to enhance data management capabilities and efficiency.

- Collaboration: Partner closely with Application Development teams, Infrastructure teams, and Business Analysts to ensure database solutions align with overall enterprise architecture and business goals.

- Code Review: Review and validate complex SQL, stored procedures, and database deployment scripts developed by engineering teams to ensure adherence to architectural guidelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- Experience: 10 to 16 years of progressive experience in database development, administration, and architecture.

- Relational Expertise: Strong expertise in SQL and Oracle is mandatory, including advanced PL/SQL programming, architecture, and performance tuning techniques for large production environments.

- NoSQL Experience: Hands-on, proven experience with MongoDB or other major NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, Couchbase), including understanding their deployment, sharding, and query optimization methods.

- Database Design: Excellent knowledge of DB design principles, data modeling techniques (3NF, Dimensional Modeling, Data Vault), and practical experience in translating complex business requirements into effective database schemas.

- Tuning & Scaling: Proven experience in designing, building, and optimizing large-scale databases (terabytes of data) for high-volume transactions and reporting.

- Best Practices: Deep understanding of database security, backup/recovery strategies, replication, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.

- Communication: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
