Role Overview :

The role involves integrating various field devices such as inverters, batteries, and sensors with an edge gateway. The engineer will be responsible for reliable data acquisition, processing, and secure publishing of device data to cloud platforms, enabling real-time monitoring and energy management applications.

Key Responsibilities :

- Integrate and communicate with different devices including inverters, batteries, meters, and sensors through an edge gateway.

- Implement and manage device communication using industrial protocols such as Modbus (RTU/TCP) and other hardware communication standards.

- Develop efficient, scalable, and reliable data acquisition and publishing services.

- Publish device data securely to cloud platforms using MQTT and TCP/IP-based communication.

- Deploy and manage edge applications using AWS IoT Core and AWS Greengrass.

- Design and implement serverless backend components using AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and related AWS services.

- Ensure secure connectivity using VPNs and secure networking practices.

- Work closely with hardware and firmware teams to validate communication, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.

- Support system deployment, commissioning, and field-level debugging when required.

- Maintain documentation and follow best practices for version control, CI/CD pipelines, and code reviews.

Technical Skills & Requirements :

- Strong understanding of hardware communication protocols, including Modbus, MQTT, TCP/IP, and VPN-based networking.

- Proficiency in Python and C++ for developing gateway services and device drivers.

- Hands-on experience with AWS IoT Core, AWS Greengrass, and cloud-to-edge communication.

- Solid understanding of AWS Serverless architecture, including Lambda, DynamoDB, and event-driven systems.

- Experience working with energy management systems (EMS), renewable energy sources, and power electronics.

- Familiarity with Linux-based systems, including system services, networking, and debugging tools.

- Experience with sensor and bus communication systems such as I2C, SPI, and other low-level interfaces.

- Hands-on experience with embedded platforms like Raspberry Pi (RPI) and ESP32.

- Proficiency in Git, branching strategies, and CI/CD workflows.

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience in industrial or energy-domain IoT deployments.

- Knowledge of device security, certificate management, and OTA updates.

- Exposure to edge computing optimization and performance tuning.
