Position : QA Tester, Manual Testing (Mid-Level)


Experience : 25 Years Minimum (Mid-Level)


Location : Remote (India)


Duration : 6 Months (Contract)


Job Summary :


We are seeking an experienced, mid-level QA Tester with a minimum of 25 years of recent, relevant manual testing experience, specifically within the insurance domain using the Guidewire platform. This role is 100% focused on manual functional and system testing, requiring deep competency in application knowledge, particularly Guidewire PolicyCenter (Version 10 preferred), and a highly hands-on, communicative approach to quality assurance.


Key Responsibilities and Technical Focus :


Guidewire Functional Testing :


- Execute comprehensive manual functional and system testing across the Guidewire PolicyCenter application (Version 10 highly preferred; Version 9 passable).


- Develop and maintain detailed, reusable test cases, test data, and traceability matrices based on business requirements and technical specifications within the insurance domain.


- Demonstrate strong application knowledge by confidently answering out-of-the-box PolicyCenter questions and understanding configuration impact on business workflows.


- Maintain up-to-date practice with the newest Guidewire versions and features to ensure testing is comprehensive and current.


Execution and Defect Management :


- Perform various types of manual testing, including regression, smoke, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) support, ensuring maximum test coverage.


- Execute test cases rigorously and meticulously record test results, logging detailed, reproducible defects using industry-standard tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).


- Actively participate in defect triage meetings, providing clear evidence and technical context to developers for timely resolution.


Backend Testing Capabilities (Helpful) :


- Utilize basic backend testing/backend capabilities to validate data integrity and processing outcomes by querying databases (SQL) or inspecting logs.


- Verify data flow and consistency between PolicyCenter and upstream/downstream systems.


Collaboration and Communication :


- Be highly hands-on and proactively ask questions to gain clarity on requirements, edge cases, and technical implementation details.


- Actively communicate status, risks, roadblocks, and complex issues to the QA Lead, Project Manager, and development teams in a clear and concise manner.


- Encouraged to be involved and communicate openly within an Agile/Scrum environment, participating in daily stand-ups and planning sessions.


Preferred Skills & Qualifications :


- Recent and highly relevant manual testing experience, specifically focused on Guidewire PolicyCenter and core insurance industry business processes (e.g., quoting, issuance, endorsements, cancellations).


- Solid competency in analyzing complex business logic within policy management systems.


- Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr) for organizing and tracking test cycles.


- Basic working knowledge of SQL for database validation and backend data testing.


- Experience testing applications within an Agile software development lifecycle.
