About the Role :

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer with a strong foundation in manual testing methodologies and a proven background in testing complex applications within the Telecom domain. The candidate should have in-depth experience in working with Unix environments, SQL for data validation, and Agile frameworks using Jira for defect management. The role requires a detail-oriented professional who can ensure high-quality software delivery through meticulous testing and documentation practices.

Key Responsibilities :

Test Planning & Design :

- Develop, review, and execute comprehensive manual test cases derived from business and technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

Test Execution & Analysis :

- Conduct functional, integration, system, sanity, and regression testing to ensure end-to-end application stability. Analyze test results, document defects, and perform root cause analysis to drive quality improvements.

Defect Tracking & Resolution :

- Log, prioritize, and track defects using Jira. Collaborate closely with development, business, and operations teams to ensure timely closure and resolution of defects.

Backend Validation :

- Write and execute SQL queries to validate data consistency, perform backend testing, and ensure data integrity across systems.

Environment Support :

- Execute tests and monitor logs in Unix environments. Perform basic troubleshooting of system and application-level issues.

Agile Collaboration :

- Participate actively in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and review meetings as part of the Agile development lifecycle. Work closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts to ensure quality is embedded from the start.

Documentation & Reporting :

- Maintain detailed and version-controlled test documentation including test cases, test results, and defect reports. Provide quality metrics and progress updates to stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement :

- Contribute to process enhancements by identifying gaps, improving test coverage, and sharing best practices for QA effectiveness.

Required Skills and Experience :

- Manual Testing Expertise : Strong understanding of software testing principles, SDLC, and STLC.

- SQL Proficiency : Ability to write and optimize complex queries for data validation and analysis.

- Unix Environment Experience : Hands-on with Unix commands for application log analysis and test environment operations.

- Telecom Domain Knowledge : Familiarity with OSS/BSS systems, network elements, and telecom process flows.

- Agile Methodology : Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional collaboration.

- Defect Management Tools : Practical experience with Jira or similar tools for issue tracking and project management.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Exposure to API testing and tools like Postman or Swagger is an added advantage.

- Basic understanding of automation frameworks or willingness to learn automation tools over time.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
