About the Role :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled QA Engineer (Manual & Automation) to join our technology team in Mumbai.

You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions that power Kiwis insurance products and customer journeys. This includes end-to-end testing of web, mobile, and backend systems with a focus on automation, scalability, and continuous improvement.

This role requires strong technical proficiency in Playwright automation (Python/JavaScript), solid understanding of API testing, and proven experience in manual testing workflows within Agile environments.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Test Planning & Strategy :

- Design and implement comprehensive test plans, cases, and scripts for web, mobile, and API-based applications.

- Collaborate with product, development, and business teams to define test scope, acceptance criteria, and quality goals.

- Develop test data and maintain traceability matrices to ensure full coverage of business requirements.

- Continuously optimize QA processes to improve efficiency and reduce time-to-market.

2. Manual Testing :

- Conduct thorough functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

- Validate insurance workflows such as policy issuance, renewals, endorsements, payments, and claims processing.

- Perform exploratory testing to uncover hidden issues and improve system reliability.

- Identify, document, and track defects using JIRA or similar tools, and work with developers to ensure timely fixes.

3. Automation Testing :

- Build and maintain automation frameworks using Playwright (with Python or JavaScript).

- Automate web UI, API, and end-to-end workflows to improve regression efficiency and consistency.

- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) to enable continuous testing.

- Regularly monitor and maintain automation scripts to ensure reliability across releases.

4. Performance & API Testing :

- Execute API testing for Kiwis backend microservices using tools like Postman, Swagger, or RestAssured.

- Conduct performance and load testing (using JMeter or k6) to ensure scalable and reliable product performance.

- Analyze system performance metrics and collaborate with developers and DevOps engineers to address bottlenecks.

5. Collaboration & Reporting :

- Work closely with Product Managers, Developers, and Business Analysts to ensure smooth sprint delivery.

- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives in an Agile/Scrum setup.

- Contribute to QA documentation, best practices, and internal knowledge sharing.

- Provide defect metrics, test coverage reports, and release readiness dashboards to stakeholders.

Required Skills & Technical Expertise :

Core Competencies :

- Proven experience in manual and automation testing for web and mobile applications.

- Hands-on experience with Playwright automation framework (using Python or JavaScript).

- Strong knowledge of API testing and automation (REST, GraphQL).

- Experience in CI/CD integration for automated testing pipelines.

- Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Zephyr).

Technical Proficiency :

- Languages : Python and/or JavaScript (mandatory)

- Automation Tools : Playwright, Selenium (optional add-on experience)

- API Tools : Postman, Swagger, RestAssured

- Performance Tools : JMeter, Locust, k6

Domain Understanding :

- Exposure to Insurance, FinTech, or BFSI domains is highly preferred.

- Understanding of core insurance processes policy lifecycle, claims, endorsements, underwriting, and payments will be an added advantage.

Educational Qualifications :

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
