Quality Assurance Automation Engineer - Cypress

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior QA Automation Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in driving our automation strategy, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust automated test suites, performing comprehensive API testing, and integrating testing seamlessly into our CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, a passion for quality, and a proven track record of mentoring junior engineers in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Key Responsibilities :

- Automated Test Development : Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust automated test scripts using Cypress and JavaScript to ensure comprehensive test coverage for web applications.

- API Testing : Perform thorough API testing using industry-standard tools such as Postman or RESTAssured to validate backend functionality and data integrity.

- Collaboration & Agile Practices : Actively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and other QA engineers, within an Agile/Scrum framework. Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

- CI/CD Integration : Integrate automated tests into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using platforms like Jenkins or GitHub Actions, enabling efficient and rapid feedback loops.

- Performance & Load Testing : Conduct performance and load testing using tools like K6 to identify bottlenecks, assess system scalability, and ensure optimal application performance under various conditions.

- Documentation & Defect Management : Maintain clear and concise test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test results. Effectively manage defects using tools such such as JIRA or TestRail, ensuring timely resolution and traceability.

- Mentorship & Leadership : Mentor junior QA engineers, providing guidance on best practices in test automation, coding standards, and overall QA methodologies. Lead initiatives to enhance and evolve our automation strategy and testing frameworks.

- Quality Assurance Best Practices : Champion quality assurance best practices throughout the software development lifecycle, advocating for testability, reliability, and performance.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- Experience : Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in Quality Assurance, with at least 3+ years specifically focused on test automation using Cypress.

- Programming Proficiency : Strong proficiency in JavaScript is essential. Familiarity with other testing frameworks like TestNG or Mocha is a plus.

- Version Control & Methodologies : Hands-on experience with version control systems such as Git and Bitbucket. Solid understanding and practical experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices.

- QA Fundamentals : Solid understanding of core QA methodologies, including test planning, test case design, test execution, and defect lifecycle management.

- DevOps Familiarity : Familiarity with bash scripting and basic DevOps concepts, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code.

- Problem-Solving : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

- Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

- Knowledge of security testing principles and tools.

- Contributions to open-source testing frameworks or tools.

- Certifications in Quality Assurance or Agile methodologies.
