About the job:
Role Overview:
As a QA Architect, you will be a key driver of our Test Engineering strategy. You will design, develop, and maintain a robust, scalable automation framework using Playwright (Primary), TypeScript, and Cucumber (BDD). You will play a key role in defining and enforcing automation standards, design patterns (POM, Screenplay, etc.), and coding guidelines. While your primary focus will be on Playwright based test engineering, you will also contribute to enable SAP QA team, where experience or knowledge with SAP testing is highly preferred to support our integrated enterprise ecosystem.
Job Requirements:
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science, software engineering, or related fields.
Required Experience:
- 10-13 years in QA/Test automation.
- 4+ years in Playwright + Typescript.
- Proven experience in framework design (not just script writing).
Essential Skills Core:
Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in: Playwright automation framework.
- TypeScript (must-have for scripting).
- Cucumber (BDD framework).
- Deep understanding of: Test design patterns (POM, Factory, Singleton, etc.).
- Async programming in TypeScript.
- Experience writing clean, reusable Playwright test scripts in TypeScript Automation & Tools.
- CI/CD tools: Jenkins / GitHub Actions / Azure DevOps.
- Reporting tools: Allure, Extent Reports, or similar.
- Version control: Git.
- Test runners: Playwright Test / Cucumber runners.
Desired Skills:
- Experience or Knowledge with SAP test automation with tools like TOSCA.
- Knowledge of network mocking, intercepts, and tracing in Playwright.
- Experience with: Selenium migration to Playwright.
- Cloud execution (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, Selenium Grid, Kubernetes).
- Performance optimization of test suites.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Delivery and Execution:
1. Architecture & Framework Design:
- Design, develop, and maintain a robust, scalable automation framework using Playwright (Primary), TypeScript, and Cucumber (BDD).
- Integrate framework with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.).
2. Test Automation Development:
- Write high-quality, maintainable Playwright scripts in TypeScript for UI testing, API validation (Playwright request framework), and cross-browser testing.
- Build reusable components, utilities, and step definitions for Cucumber.
- Implement data-driven and behavior-driven (BDD) testing strategies.
- Work closely with Developers, DevOps teams, and Product owners.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies and requirement reviews to ensure testability.
Support and Enablement:
1. Quality Strategy & Leadership:
- Define overall QA strategy and automation roadmap.
- Mentor QA engineers on Playwright, TypeScript, and BDD practices.
- Drive shift-left testing, test coverage improvement, and quality metrics.
- Define and enforce automation standards, design patterns (POM, Screenplay, etc.), and coding guidelines.
- Reporting & Observability.
